In Akuma Kun, a young man and his eccentric companions strive to establish a utopian world where all individuals can flourish. The story of the new anime takes place 30 years after the conclusion of the actual anime in 1989 and 1990. Yko Mita (Akuma I/Shingo Umoregi) and Toshio Furukawa (Mephisto II) reprise their roles from the original anime.
In addition, Furukawa plays Mephisto III.Yuuki Kaji gives voice to Akuma II/Ichir Umoregi. Junichi Sato (Aria franchise, Sailor Moon) is the primary Akuma Kun anime production director at Encourage Films, and Fumitsu Oizaki (A Centaur’s Life, Romeo and Juliet) is the series director.
Sato directed television anime and two films based on Akuma-Kun in 1989 and 1990. Hiroshi Ohnogi (2018’s GeGeGe no Kitar, Noein – to your other self) supervises the show’s scripts. Toei Animation is an animation studio.
