Alchemy of Souls Season 3 Release Date, Plot, Cast, and More

Alchemy of Souls Season 3 update: Alchemy of Souls is an outlier among period K-dramas thanks to its epic storytelling, well-executed special effects, and plenty of fantastical elements. After the first season’s 20 episodes were completed in August, the sequel, titled Alchemy of Souls: Light And Shadow, premiered in December to wrap up the unexplained threads left over at the end of the first season. Season two of Alchemy of Souls, written by the Hong Sisters (Hong Jung-eun and Mi-ran), takes place once again in the mythical kingdom of Daeho, which appears to be modeled on the Joseon era of South Korea.

In the first season, he focused on Jang Wook’s (Lee Jae-Wook) ascent to prominence as Daeho’s most potent sorcerer, despite secretly engaging in soul-shifting. However, the second season takes place three years after the tense events of the first. A rogue soul-shifter hunter, Jang Wook has assumed his new role as the bearer of the ice stone after his resurrection.

Now using Nak-blade suns and fighting soul shifters, Jang Wook is reintroduced to the audience. Even though he has found a new (though temporary) reason to live, he still spends much of his time moping around the house and thinking about Nak-so when he’s not out hunting soul shifters. He meets Jin Bu-yeon (Go Yoon-Jung), who many would recognize as the original Nak-su, thanks to his run-in with a soul shifter. As a result, Bu-Yeon has yet to learn what she’s been up to in the three years since the first season’s events, during which time she was widely assumed to be dead.

She has recently escaped from Jinyowon and uses their chance meeting to ask Jang Wook to marry her. Even though he turns down the offer, the two go on an adventure together, and their old passion from when they were Nak-su and Jang Wook seem to be reigniting.

Fans were given a strong preview of the second season as soon as the first season concluded. That preview confirmed that all the characters and their associated actors would return for the second season of Alchemy of Souls: Light And Shadow. Most of the original cast for Alchemy of Souls returns for the second season, including the show’s original Nak-su, played by Go Yoon-Jung.

Several of the show’s original cast members, including Lee Jae-wook, Minhyun, Arin (from OH MY GIRL), Shin Seung-ho, Oh Na-ra, and others, have all returned for the second season in their original roles. Jung So-min, who played Mu-deck and Nak-su in the first season, is the only original cast member yet to return for the second. This has been the subject of much speculation over the past few months. Nonetheless, there has been no official word on whether or not she will appear in the upcoming season, so her cameo could pop up at any time.
