Awake Trailer

The trailer of awake had only recently dropped and it’s not to be slept on (see what we did there?). The trailer provides us with a brief overview of the chaotic situation and the dystopia it had created. Jill and Noah spend a restless night in the trailer, watching shooting stars that turn out to be satellites descending from the sky. The next day, they discover that all electronic equipment on the planet has failed, and anarchy ensues.

To add to the panic, whatever has caused this technical disaster has also resulted in humanity’s inability to sleep. The symptoms of sleeplessness worsen over time: confusion, hallucinations, and hysteria. However, Matilda, the only person on the planet who can still get a complete 8 hours of sleep, maybe the key to humanity’s survival.

Check out the trailer below, it only contributes to the already built up hype.

Awake Director’s Message

Despite the fact that the film is set in a future without gadgets or sleep, Raso believes it has a message of optimism. “I think behind it all, I was attempting to make a more hopeful film,” he says. “In this film, my core theme is that the planet may require a reset.” Everyone needs to take a step back and take a fresh look at the world.

I have a strong feeling that today’s youngsters will be the ones to lead the way. That, in my opinion, was the central theme of the picture. It’s actually about this small child who can sleep, the new world that’s upon us, and the hope that she represents, even if it doesn’t feel like it.”
