On October 2, 2011, the anime came to an end.

There was a sizable pause between Blue Exorcist’s first and second seasons. The second season of “Kyoto Saga” debuted in 2017 after the first season’s fans had to wait five years for it to air. Due to the enormous time gap between the first two seasons, there is a glimmer of hope for a third. Due in 2022 or perhaps 2023, the upcoming Blue Exorcist anime chapter doesn’t seem out of character with the rest of the series.

The sales of the manga are another aspect that might influence the third season. According to Crunchyroll, the manga has sold over 15 million copies by the year 2016. Additionally, the Blue Exorcist anime series significantly boosted manga and paperback sales when it first aired, as this Anime News Network article notes.

The manga, which is now airing, may experience a similar uptick in sales with the start of a new season. Speaking of manga, there are plenty of tales for the anime program to use in the forthcoming season. The program has already included key aspects of the first volume’s manga narrative. Season 3 will thus probably start with manga volumes 10 and 11.

  • Rin Okumura: The story’s protagonist is a 16-year-old boy. He is a descendant of Satan, a child of a human woman, and the heir to Satan’s authority. Mephisto Pheles, the principal of True Cross Academy, locked his abilities into the demon-slaying blade Kurikara at birth, allowing him to live a typical human life for over 16 years with his twin brother Yukio and foster father Shiro Fujimoto. Kurikara’s inability to keep Rin’s powers sealed causes him to realize who he is. This realization causes Shiro to die at the hands of Satan, who then tries to bring Rin back to Gehenna, the domain of demons. Later, Rin meets Mephisto Pheles and begs to be allowed to join the exorcists in their battle with the demons. Rin is personally enrolled at the True Cross Academy by Mephisto Pheles, the school’s director, to achieve his ambition of becoming a “Meister” in the Knight Order, becoming a Paladin, and vanquishing Satan. Additionally, he hopes to gain Yukio’s esteem. Rin, who is now an Esquire, aspires to become a Paladin, the greatest rank an Exorcist may have, to demonstrate that Fujimoto did not intend to use him as a weapon. In addition to being a skilled chef, Rin also cooks for Yukio.
  • Yukio Okumura: The younger twin brother of Rin. It was thought that Satan’s power would be divided between the twins until it was discovered that the lady who had been impregnated by him was expecting. The whole range of Satan’s powers, however, went to Rin because Yukio was born human and did not inherit any of Satan’s strength due to the fragility of his body. However, Yukio did acquire a spirit wound from his brother at birth, enabling him to have known about demons for as long as he can remember. Since she was seven years old, Yukio has been working covertly to become an exorcist to defend Rin with the aid of Fujimoto. Yukio and Rin are both in their first year at True Cross Academy, but Yukio is already a teacher at the Exorcist cram school, instructing Rin’s class on Anti-Demon Pharmacology. Yukio is frequently referred to be a prodigy because he has already earned the title “Meister” in both the Dragoon and Doctor classes, although most individuals would only aim for Meister in one class. His current rank as an exorcist is Middle First. Although it is evident that Yukio previously loved his brother, he soon grew to hate him owing to Rin’s preferential treatment as the son of Satan with supernatural abilities and blamed Rin for the passing of their adoptive father after starting to train as an exorcist to protect Rin. However, Yukio begins to care again for his brother as the book progresses. Yukio frequently chastises Rin for his rash decisions and careless attitude because he fears Rin will be overtaken by his demonic nature. It is shown that he has a fairly cruel side that he suppresses while generally being polite. Yukio learns during the battle with Todo that he also inherited Satan’s flame through his eyes, which unknowingly shields him anytime he is in danger. Yukio becomes fascinated after discovering with learning the truth about how he and Rin were born.

Although this is not canon, it is altered in the anime so that he possesses Satanic abilities. In VOMIC, he is voiced by Ryuichi Kijima, while in Japanese, he is portrayed by Jun Fukuyama and in English by Johnny Yong Bosch. Kimito Totani played him in the musical version of The Blue Exorcist.
