Campione Season 2 Important Updates

Campione, or God Slayers, are humans who have to obtain the abilities of the first slain god called Authorities. And yes, the show’s as wonderful as that sounds.  Moral obligation to be honest with you- the show is not a needle in the haystack, it is not beautifully different and unique. It will not make you cry, it will not serve you existential questions on a platter.

Campione provides an in-depth narrative, lovable characters, exhilarating action, and progressing romance. It doesn’t make the false promise of being your number one show; it is, however, a show worth being your ‘comfort show’. The perfect balance of mystified fantasy, action, and lines of romance make the show truly loved by the audience. Speaking of, here’s all you need to know about Campione season 2.

Campione Season 2 Plot

Godou Kusanagi, a former middle school baseball player forced into retirement due to injury, is requested by his grandfather to return a stone slab to a friend named Lucrezia Zora in Sardinia. He meets the god of war, Verethragna, after encountering the diabolically manipulating sword-mistress Erica Blandelli. Godou becomes a Campione, or god slayer, after slaying the deity.

His mission is to combat heretical gods who begin modifying things to their benefit, typically at the cost of the locals. One of the drawbacks of being a Campione is that his status attracts unwelcome attention and complicated girls. Erica, who proclaims her undying love for him, is notorious for putting him in embarrassing and misinterpreted circumstances.

Campione Season 2 will shed more light on how this ordinary, nothing special teen is pushed into a life of magical mystery.

Let’s break down the components that make up the show.

What are Campiones?

What are Campiones
What are Campiones

Campiones are mortals who have inherited the talents of the first killed god, (namely, Authorities). They possess improved physiology that can recover even the most fatal wounds considerably quicker than most others, as well as magical skills that rival the most potent magicians. They also have extremely high magical tolerance, resistance, and resilience, which shields them from mortal enemy power but stops them from absorbing helpful magic like teaching or healing. As a result, a caster must administer spells inwardly by ways such as kissing or eating.

Here’s a list of the Campiones.

  • Sasha Dejanstahl Voban (サーシャ·デヤンスタール·ウォバン, Sāsha Deyansutāru Voban)

Voiced by: Unshō Ishizuka (Japanese); John Swasey (English)

Voban is the first Campione and is of Hungarian origin. He is a cold guy whose sole ambition is to fight tough opponents and acquire talents.

  • Luo Hao (羅濠, Ruo Hao)

Luo Hao, the second Campione, is of Chinese heritage. She had a magnificent figure who carried herself with royal majesty. She embodies all five Confucian virtues: compassion, righteousness, propriety, knowledge, and integrity.

  • Aisha (アイーシャ, Aīsha)

Aisha is the third Campione and is of Alexandrian ancestry. She is known as the Eternal Beauty, Goddess of Caves, or Mysterious Queen of Caves, all of which relate to her capacity to create a portal to another realm that resembles a cave.

  • Annie Charlton (アニー·チャールトン, Anī Chāruton)

Annie is the fourth Campione and is of American ancestry. She also goes by the alias John Pluto Smith while she is disguised. She is a serious person who only shows her emotions when she is intoxicated.

  • Alexander Gascoigne (アレクサンダー·ガスコイン, Arekusandā Gasukoin)

Alexander is the fifth Campione and is of British ancestry. He is also known as Black Prince Alec, and he is the leader of the political movement Royal Arsenal, which opposes Princess Alice’s Witengamot.

  • Salvatore Doni (サルヴァトーレ·ドニ, Saruvatōre Doni)

Voiced by: Takuya Eguchi (Japanese); Andrew Love (English)

Salvatore Campione is the sixth Campione and is of Italian heritage. He has blonde hair and a scar over his right shoulder where it joins the arm. He has a carefree disposition and is seen by most to be a total moron with no common sense and no magical abilities.

  • Uldin (ウルディン, Urudin)

Uldin is the eighth Campione and descended from the Huns. He is a warrior who is likened to Godou owing to similar dispositions and fighting temperaments, presumably as a result of having an unrecorded and distant ancestor.

Who are the Heretic Gods?

Heretic Gods are gods who appear in the actual world instead of being legends. A mortal who wounds and kills a Heretic God will acquire their skills and become a Campione, while Campiones can also slay other Heretic Gods to obtain more talents.

Killing a Heretic God who has already been wounded by others, or combining with other people to destroy them, will not grant you any abilities. It is worth noting that even if they are murdered, Heretic Gods will revive later as long as the myth is still recognized among people.

Here is a list of the Heretic Gods.

  • Athena (アテナ, Atena)

Voiced by: Yui Ogura (Japanese); Brittney Karbowski (English)

Athena has a chilly demeanor and is eager to go to any length to retrieve her lost talents. Her look is that of a youthful adolescent, with silver hair and owl-like black eyes.

  • Verethragna (ウルスラグナ, Urusuraguna)

Voiced by: Junko Minagawa (Japanese); Leraldo Anzaldua (English)

Verethragna is an ancient Persian warlord who enjoys fighting and would go to any length to confront a suitable opponent. He has defeated and inherited the talents of nine other warlords.

  • Perseus (ペルセウス, Peruseusu)

Voiced by: Nobutoshi Canna (Japanese); Chris Patton (English)

Perseus poses as a Greek hero, but he is actually the Persian deity Mithra. He is renowned as the Legendary Dragon Killer because he slays each dragon he comes across while ignoring the consequences of his actions.

  • Pandora (パンドラ)

Voiced by: Yuiko Tatsumi (Japanese); Sasha Paysinger (English)

Pandora, renowned as the mother of all Campiones, visits twice in Godou’s nightmares after the Ram is awakened when he is on the verge of death.

Campione Season 2 Release Date

A 13-episode anime adaptation produced by Diomedéa and directed by Keizo Kusakawa aired in Japan on AT-X from July 6 to September 28, 2012, and has been licensed in North America by Sentai Filmworks. The first five volumes of the light novels are adapted for the anime, with the last episode serving as a stand-alone plot.

Unfortunately, not much has been said about the release of Campione season 2. Though the first season was created solely to promote the light novel, with the overwhelming demand for Season 2, the producers may give in to the fans. Season 1 only adapted the first five volumes of the series, and there are still 16 more to go. As a result, there is enough material to generate two additional seasons.
