Created by Travis Beacham and RenĂ© Echevarria, Carnival Row is an American crime drama political urban fantasy neo-noir steampunk television series that is based on an unproduced film of Beacham’s spec script, A Killing on Carnival Row. The series features mythical creatures who have left their home affected because of war and have been living in the city while problems are growing between citizens and the immigrant population.

There have been a few murders that remain unsolved and there is also a quest for power, unresolved love, and social adjustments affecting places where people have been living in peace. Beacham and Echevarria are also the executive producers of the series, along with Marc Guggenheim, Orlando Bloom, and Jon Amiel, and Gideon Amir is the producer.

The makers have hired some talented stars for the series characters, including Orlando Bloom, Simon mcburney, David Gyasi, Karla Crome, Indira Varma, Cara Delevingne, Tamzin Merchant, Andrew Gower, Arty Froushan, and Jared Harris.

Amazon signed a deal in January 2015 and Guillermo del Toro was brought in as the co-writer, executive producer, and director. Also written by Travis Beacham and Rene Echeverria, it is based on a feature film spec script written by Beacham called A Killing on Carnival Row. The company was working on three scripts and del Toro was set to helm the first episode. Production for the pilot episode began in June 2016 and the original creative team also worked on it.

The series was ordered in May 2017 with Beacham and Echeverria as executive producers. Paul McGuigan was hired as the director and del Toro exited for other commitments. Jon Amiel then came in as the director in November 2017. Amazon renewed the show for another season in July 2019.

The makers have not renewed the series for a third season yet, there is no release date available for Carnival Row Season 3.

The series debuted on August 30, 2019, and was announced on June 3, 2019. Amazon renewed the series for a second season in July 2019, which is scheduled to air with episodes released weekly in batches of two episodes on February 17, 2023. In November 2022, the makers of the show confirmed that season 2 of Carnival Row is the final season of the series.
