The story is about Cameron Black, a well-known magician whose career has been destroyed because of a scandal and now has to resort to nowhere else but to the FBI in order to continue to practice his art of deception, illusion, and influence and here he becomes the first consulting illusionist ever in the world. He uses all his skills of deception to help the government in solving all their crime cases that cannot be explained naturally or logically and thus trap the criminals by using deception.

Cameron was known to people as the greatest illusionist until the moment his biggest secret was exposed to the public and his whole career was shattered and got ruined. Cameron also has good reasons to believe this was not a slip of information and must have been planned against him.

The deception started off well even though not a breakout release, it still drew a 1.3 in 18-49 and 6.1 million total viewers which were the network’s best-scripted premiere statistics in the hour since Quantico’s release in September 2015.

But eventually, the ratings of the series kept dropping low and it could not recover a bit. The ratings kept getting worse for the show with more time as well.

Because of these factors, ABC opted to discontinue the drama and cancelled Deception after the first season itself. On May 11, 2018, ABC officially announced the show to be cancelled.

Thus, it is most likely that we are never getting to witness a second season for Deception because of its inability to attract the audience anyway. Since there is not really any fanbase or viewers demanding a renewal of the show either, no other platform would be picking it up either, thus, it seems like the first season was the only one for Deception, and season 2 is most probably never going to happen.

Cameron Black, the series’ protagonist, and a talented illusionist and magician are at the center of Deception. His career, however, was devastated by a scandal. He finds a way to achieve his goals and put his skills to the best possible use.

He joined the FBI and utilized his magical skills to solve high-profile, puzzling cases, mostly motivated by his anger for the world, which had ruined his joyful career. While he uses all of his techniques to solve riddles, he occasionally runs out of time and must devise new competent feats.

The protagonists’ narcissism, personalities, and FBI-civilian collaboration, which were regarded to be “unthinking tropes,” were blasted shortly after the show’s premiere. The plot was very similar to that of another TV show, Scandal. The series also lacked tension because it was easy to predict what would happen next. To put it another way, the conclusion of the mystery was fairly obvious.

Deception Season 1 was canceled after 13 episodes, although it was written by Chris Fedak. Given the failure of the first season, a second season does not look to be in the cards. The show was based on Scandal’s blueprint, and it inevitably went nowhere.
