Shea McGee and Syd McGee, a real-life couple, run two businesses. Nearly 100 people work for the interior design company Studio McGee, whereas McGee & Co. is a furniture and accessories company. Shea designed the first house in 2013 and began sharing pictures of it on Instagram.
Her work was soon noticed and admired by family and friends, which eventually attracted paying customers. The couple has a tidy division of labor.
