Netflix has put a bomb over the peaceful anime Nation, and the bomb is ‘Drifting Home’. The trailer of the series has literally made the people get behind it, leaving everything else.
Drifting Home is a sci-fi and adventurous anime series directed by Hiroyasu Ishida and written by Hiroyasu Ishida, Hayashi Mori, and Minaka Sakamoto. The anime is by Studio Colorido, which is famous for its works like Penguin Highway and A Whisker Away.
From the trailer, it is evident that one of the apartments from the colony drifts away into a sea and 6 children get stuck there. The entire series is about how the six of them try to escape from there. Ok coming to the main point, Netflix has already announced the release date of Drifting Home, the series will be released on September 16, 2022. Yeah, it’s actually months away, but we should actually be happy that at least we got to know the release date, or else, the suspense would have killed us.

Drifting Home Plot Summary
The story centers on six children who get trapped in an apartment which gets floating in the sea.
The anime starts with an opening flashback that says, Kosuke and Natsume have been best friends since childhood but their relationship fades away when they were in sixth grade when Kosuke’s grandfather passes away. Years later, one summer holiday, Kosuke and his classmates sneak into an old apartment that is about to be demolished. People never go inside there because they believe it to be haunted. Kosuke sneaks inside there because he used to live there with his grandpa and all his beautiful memories with his best friend Natsume are in that apartment.
Surprisingly, Kosuke meets Natsume there, and they engage in a conversation about their past. He asks him whether he knows anything about the mysterious Noppo. But suddenly something happens and all of them faint. After regaining consciousness, when they look outside, they see a vast ocean in front of them. They realize that they are in the ocean and the apartment is drifting away. The six of them team up to escape from here and reach the land. Throughout the series we can witness them enjoying the sea, making memories, tears, fears, fights, and teamwork. And a summer farewell journey begins…
