Electric Dreams is a science fiction-based anthology series adapted from the works of Philip K. Dick. The show has ten episodes, and each episode is a standalone one adapted from a specific short story by Philip K. Dick.

In the first episode, “The Hood Maker”, in a regime, the Free Union, a small group of humans have developed some telepathic abilities and are automatically not trusted by the public. They are tagged as “Teeps” and are constantly discriminated against and seen as lowly. Honor, a telepath is selected to work for the police and gets close to her handler, Agent Ross. The duo works on a case together with where this mysterious being, “the Hood Maker” has started to distribute telepathy-proof hoods all over the city.

In the second episode, “Impossible Planet”, Norton and Andrews, two dull space tourism guides meet this 342-year-old woman who makes them an offer of five years’ worth of salary for each of them if they take her on one last trip to Earth. Since they do not have much clarity or certainty regarding Earth’s existence anymore either owing to the evacuation a hundred years back because of solar flares they go to a similar planet which the woman’s robot servant catches.

In the third episode, “The Commuter”, Ed Jacobson who works at the Woking Station sees his life take a drastic turn as his son starts to experience some psychotic episodes. Later a young woman demands a ticket to a non-existent destination, Macon Heights which intrigues him to follow all these passengers who are visiting this village where all the traumas and fears are wiped away. When he returns home he finds out that his son never existed and he returns to Macon Heights in demand of his original life.

The fourth episode, “Crazy Diamond” is about Ed Morris who is working at a company producing these humanoids called Jacks and Jills and the QCs that add to their intelligence and emotions. He gets into a plan made by Jill of stealing 10 QCs where he will use one to extend her life span and the other nine he may sell to start a better life afresh with his wife.

The fifth episode, “Real Life: is about Sarah, a policewoman who lives in the future and shares headspace with a game designer, George who is living in the present time. Both of them work to figure out which one of them is indeed real and who is in the dream world and also throughout these races against time create a bond unseen to all and discover the one thing that has the power to connect as well as destroy them.

Similarly the remaining five episodes: Human is, The Father-Thing, Autofac, Safe and Sound and Kill All Others also deal with a particular short story and act as standalone episodes like the former five.

As of now, there has been no update or word on the renewal of the show for a further season. The first season of the show did receive a positive reception from the audience and has garnered quite decent ratings and reviews too. This means there is hope for Electric Dreams seasons 2 with the viewership level till now. It has been quite some years since the release of the first season but fans are still looking forward to a season 2. But since the creators or no official sources have commented on the renewal of the show as of now there is no confirmation of its happening. If things work in favor, we might see the second season sometime around the end of 2022 or early 2023.
