The anime’s last episode shows Akira defeating Beta and coming back alive. Enemies are also hacking Tokyo. So with the help of Ygg’s clones, Akira investigates the case.

The hacking ends spreading all over the world, including the military offices.

It is revealed that the scientist who created Ex-Arm #00 was still alive. It is also revealed that one of the AI influenced by Beta was the real hacker. Alma, Akira, and Ygg go to cyberspace to save the world, but they realize they are not capable of doing it. So both Alma and Akira put their processing power into Akira.

The only way Akira could save the world was by launching a Nuke. However, there was a disadvantage to this plan. Launching a nuke causes an EMP that would destroy all Japan’s electronic devices, including himself. To save humanity, Akira makes a decision. The last scene in the series shows Minami having Akira’s webcam in her car’s dash. It is also hinted that Akira may have survived when the webcam moves.
