He will soon appear in an Amazon series alongside some of the biggest stars in the industry. Yes, we are talking about Expats. A brand new show is soon to be released.
An upcoming American drama series which is produced by Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, Theresa Park, Alice Bell, Melanie Marnich, and Lulu Wang for Amazon Video. The show is based on the 2016 novel “The Expatriates” by Janice Y.K. Lee. Blossom Films and Per Capita Productions are the responsible production companies for the series.
The Expats looks at the personal and professional lives of the closely knit group of expatriates that are living in Hong Kong.

Expats Season 1 Release Date
At the moment, Amazon has not confirmed the exact release date for Expats’ upcoming season. Considering the production for the season, we might predict that the series will be in 2023. However, we expect the series to be released in late 2022.
As for the episodes, there is nothing much confirmed about it. But there are rumors that the series will be going to have 6 episodes.
The trailer of the upcoming series will be released in a few months when the date of release will be announced. There is no further information disclosed by the showrunners yet.
Expats Season 1 Storyline
There is no official synopsis released by developers for the series, Expats. However, their story is based on a fabric of Hong Kong that shows an international community who are bound to live together despite facing a tragic incident.
Expats follow the story of an Expatriate Community where friendships are intense, and prosperity is celebrated but the personal lives, deaths, and marriages are played out in public with full glee where everyone stands strong side by side. We can say that show presents the vibrant life of the whole strong expatriate community.
The story mainly revolves around three women Mercy, Margaret, and Hilary.
The series is based on a Novel by Janice Y.K Lee, The Expatriates, where the inspiration is drawn from the source material. However, the creative team will make sure to explore some different aspects of life while following the source’s liberties. This is how Amazon narrates the book on which Expats is based, sort of an official synopsis;
“Mercy, a young Korean American and recent Columbia graduate, is adrift, undone by a terrible incident in her recent past. Hilary, a wealthy housewife, is haunted by her struggle to have a child, something she believes could save her foundering marriage.

Expats Season 1 Cast
Through the social media tweet, we know that Oscar-winning Nicole Kidman will be playing the main role in the series as Margaret.
Brian Tee will be starring in the opposite role as Margaret’s Husband in the name of Clarke. He is a perfect husband to Margaret and a good father. Clarke has no desire to change his life for a mere American Suburbia until he comes face to face with an impossible choice. Brain Tee joined the show in September 2021.
Right after the announcement for the season, in May 2021, Ji-Young Yoo joined the cast. Ji-Young Yoo who previously appeared in a South Korean horror hit TV series, “Sweet Home” will play the role of Mercy. In June 2021 Jack Huston and Saryu Blue joined the show. Sarayu Blue, the star of “TNT Morning” will portray the character of Hillary.
Jack Huston will play David Starr. Jack Huston who recently featured in “American Hustle” and “Ben-Hur” will act as Hilary’s Husband. Flora Chan as Olive. There is no exact idea now as to what character Flora Chan they will be playing for the show. But for sure it will be interesting.
