Fargo is an anthology show, which means there will be a new story in every season. So, for now, we cannot predict anything about what we might get to see in the new season or consider any cliffhangers.

According to official statements from the crew members of the show, the new season will be set in the backdrop of 2019 and based on kidnapping. Every single season of the series is set in different locations and times. Season 1 featured Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton being killed in 2006, and the fourth season featured criminal organizations taking over Kansas during the 50s.

The fifth season will be set in Minnesota and according to a press release this year, it will be questioned if a kidnapping is not a kidnapping and if someone’s wife is not his own. The themes of captivity, abduction, and hostage will play an important role in Season 5. While speaking to Deadline, Hawley hinted that the new season will not just be contemporary. It will also be timely since it is expected to address the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Hawley’s statements, the new season might conclude the show.

Anthology shows have been popular all these years since people prefer to see new stories and sometimes it might be irritating to witness the same storylines and characters repeatedly.
