High Card Anime Release Date, Plot, Cast, and More

TMS Entertainment announced the release date, cast, and crew for their next poker-themed multimedia project, High Card on July 6, 2022, along with a trailer, character designs, key visuals, and cast bios. This poker-themed project is a collaboration between publisher Kadokawa, anime studio TMS Entertainment, and entertainment business Sammy Corporation. Both firms announced that anime, manga, and novel adaptations would be part of the project.

In High Card, we follow a gang of teens as they embark on a quest to acquire a set of powerful “expanding cards.” The original work was created by Homura Kawamoto (Kakegurui franchise), his brother Hikaru Muno (Kakegurui novelization), and TMS Entertainment (Lupin III, Detective Conan anime), with Ebimo serving as the original character designer.

January of 2023 will mark the first airing of the anime. On December 3, the first drama CD volume will be distributed. This poker-themed anthology is presented by publisher Kadokawa, anime studio TMS Entertainment, and entertainment business Sammy Corporation. The firms have already announced that anime, manga, and novels will all be a part of the initiative.

Finn, who had been living on the streets after learning that his orphanage was in danger of closing owing to financial strain, decided to try his luck at a casino. The horror that awaited Finn, however, was something for which he could have been prepared in no way. When Finn arrived, he witnessed a car chase and a horrific firefight that had been sparked by a man’s “lucky” card. It will become clear to Finn why the gunfire broke out.

A deck of 52-X-Playing cards can grant its possessor a wide range of extraordinary talents, and thereby alter the balance of power in the world. The “buddy” power that everyone carries within them can be unlocked using these cards. High Card is a gang of undercover card players whose day jobs see them posing as employees at the luxury vehicle manufacturer Pinochle; they have been asked by the monarch of Fourland to retrieve the cards that have been spread over the realm.

Finn is quickly recruited to become the group’s fifth member, and they all set out on a perilous expedition to track down these cards together. To succeed in life, all you need are good manners, respect for yourself, and the courage to take risks. But the infamous Klondikes Mafia family and the rival automotive company Who’s Who, which is obsessed with destroying Pinochle, stand in their way. These card sharks are ready to engage in a furious struggle that is driven by justice, desire, and retribution.
