Everything About High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3

Is there going to be a High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3?

Yes, the Wildcats are returning for a third season. In a promo video posted on Twitter only six weeks after season two’s season finale, Disney+ revealed High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is returning to the tv.

The show, abbreviated HSMTMTS, premiered on Disney+ in November 2019. It was driven by the High School Musical trilogy, the first two of which aired on Disney Channel in 2006 and 2007, respectively, with the last chapter opening in 2008.

We are overjoyed to be heading to the great outdoors for season three and grateful to our partners and friends at Disney Plus for their continued support of our next-generation Wildcats,” said creator and executive producer Tim Federle.

Season three will observe the kids as they leave East High for the summer at Camp Shallow Lake, a California sleep-away camp. As the Wildcats prepare for the camp’s summertime rendition of Frozen, the third season will be filled with “campfires, midsummer flings, and curfew-free nights.”

Ricky and Nini are officially over. Gina and E.J. are together, so are Big Red and Ashlyn, Kourtney and Howie, and Carlos and Seb-but all of this is bound to alter in the new season. In High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 3, Ricky and Lily seem to have a certain tension between them- like they’re an ‘item’, but not quite.

Nini is also scheduled to start writing fresh, original compositions with Gina’s brother Jamie. Gina and E.J., have finally settled their differences. We’ll also find out if Mr. Mazarra will accept his new position and form a romantic relationship with Miss Jenn.

Gary Marsh, president, and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said ahead of the first season’s debut, “The challenge we handed the creative team was Herculean. How do you recapture the joy and the magic of the original High School Musical movie … and simultaneously reimagine it completely?”

Marsh continued, “That’s like trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded. And Tim and Oliver – and this amazingly talented and diverse cast and crew– have done exactly that!”

Creator Tim Federle made a few comments too.

“We came into Season 2 feeling like, what can we do better? What can we do bigger? But how can we stay true to our Waiting for Guffman, Christopher Guest roots?” Federle said.

“It starts with the cast. Then the writers’ room, there was a real investment made. It’s a largely female writers room largely made up of women of color, and the voices and authenticity and truth that these incredible writers brought to the table every day I think really made their way on screen, which was intentional because I wanted to see Dara [Reneé] step into the limelight, as she should, and have a character who isn’t only defined by her relationship to Nini, for instance.”

Of course, High School Musical has always emphasized different voices – something that series creator Tim Federle is thrilled about and proud of. The same principle was applied as the show entered its second season- and you bet it will in the third season too.

Tim also remarked, “Look, I have so much respect for Olivia as a songwriter and as a human and what her own dreams are. I love High School Musical with Olivia. I think Olivia is a massive part of our success, but I think season three is sort of a TBD in terms of where Nini’s journey would go.”

“Choosing the musical for the show is hard because there are so many possibilities. “I think at the end of the day, the music is a really cool storytelling component of the show, but I really think it’s about the character dynamics. It’s like Gina and Ricky, Nini and Ricky, and it’s Big Red and Ashlyn that I think the audience really tunes in for. That’s a big decision we weigh in heavily when choosing the next show.”

We do not yet have a release date for HSMTMTS. The only hint at what’s to come is that the show will premiere ‘in 2022.’ But, considering that it was confirmed in November 2021, it was a foregone conclusion.

The Wildcats decided at the end of season two that they no longer wish to participate at the Menkies, and their instructor, Miss Jen, approved.

In addition, Benjamin told Miss Jen that he may not travel to California because he would prefer staying with her and attempting to move things along romantically. Elsewhere, EJ almost screwed things up with Gina, but they recognized their faults at the last moment and proceeded to have their first kiss.

Gina’s brother, Jamie, really left an impact when he volunteered to collaborate with Nini on songwriting and music production.  The road seems promising for her, but not really for Ricky, her old love interest, since he’s set up a date with the unpleasant, mean girl from the rival school. And he has no idea that she is the one who ruined his makeover moment in Beauty and the Beast.
