Hyouka Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot, and More

One of the most adored mystery and slice-of-life anime is Hyouka. With Hyouka season 2 in the talks, here’s all we need to know.

The Honobu Yonezawa novel was turned into an anime series by Kadokawa, which is where anime fans first encountered it in 2012. At the time of its release, Hyouka, which was made by Kyoto Animation, a company that continues to produce well-known animes like Violet Evergarden, managed to generate a sound. On the other hand, no subsequent seasons or OVA episodes were shown following the final episode of the first season on January 12, 2013. After a long absence, the anime series is being renewed for fresh seasons. So, is Hyouka susceptible to this as well? After around 10 years, is it still feasible to see a second season of the anime?

Read on to find out everything we know about Hyouka season 2.

Kyoto Animation created the animation for the Hyouka anime television series. Since Honobu Yonezawa wrote the original version of Hyouka and served as the anime adaptation’s adaptation consultant, he contributed the source material.

From April 22 to September 15, 2012, 22 episodes of Hyouka were broadcast. On July 8, 2012, a unique video animation was shown on Ustream. Its PV was made public in March 2012. On April 14, 2012, as part of a special event, the show’s premiere episode was shown in Shinjuku’s Kadokawa Cinema. From April 22 until September 16 of the same year, it was shown in Japan.

Along with Hyouka’s third manga volume, it was re-released as a Blu-ray disc and included a bonus original video animation, which debuted on Ustream on July 8, 2012.

The availability of source material and popularity are two important criteria that affect whether or not a television anime will continue with a new season. Honobu Yonezawa is the author of the Hyouka book series. Since 2001, new volumes of the novel series have been released at sporadic intervals. The series is hugely popular in Japan. The original novel has so far been released in six volumes. The most recent book in the series was published on November 30, 2016, which was six years ago. Fans of the series were eager to read a fresh novel volume after a protracted absence.

The seventh book of the series is currently being written, according to the series creator. Additionally, the series’ creator claims that he is not the one who will decide whether or not there will be a second season. This remark was made about four years ago. Six volumes took 15 years to finish, demonstrating the series’ attention to detail. The first four volumes were previously adapted during the first season, which is unfortunate for anime watchers.
