In season 3, Jack Ryan flees the authorities and is labeled an apostate agent after he is involved in a shady scheme. An official synopsis for the third season said that the upcoming eight-episode season “finds Jack Ryan on the run and in a race against time. Jack is wrongly implicated in a larger conspiracy and suddenly finds himself a fugitive out in the cold”. The synopsis also said, “Now, wanted by both the CIA and an international rogue faction that he has uncovered, Jack is forced underground, crisscrossing Europe, trying to stay alive, while preventing a massive global conflict”.

In season 1 we saw Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst, noticing multiple fishy transactions from Yemen and bringing them to the notice of his boss, Jim Greer. They then traced those transactions to Suleiman, a terrorist who had been under the CIA’s radar for a long time as he was responsible for the death of 300 people in a Sarin gas attack and an assassination attempt against the U.S. president.

Based on this judgment, Greer chooses to make Ryan a CIA agent and sends him for interrogation. In an attempt to find Suleiman, Ryan tracks and ultimately kills his brother, Ali bin Suleiman (Haaz Sleiman). He finally finds Suleiman and manages to kill him. Greer is then transferred, leaving Ryan in charge of the Terror, Finance, and Arms Division (T-FAD). Jack has left a file with a ticket to Moscow by Greer, setting up Season 2’s new mission.

Season 2 started with us learning that Jack chose not to go to Moscow, avoiding all the adventures and dangers he would have otherwise faced there. He once again chances upon doubtful activities, now in Venezuela, and asks his boss, Senator Moreno, to check it, in case it was involved with Russia. His way merges with Greer’s when he meets up with them, and from there, we see that the Ryan-Greer pair is up against more bad forces than the ones they had battled against in the last season. In this season of the show, Ryan loses a friend in Moreno and also learns that he has very few people he can trust in his line of work.
