In 2005 Rian Johnson formed the idea of Knives Out and chose to make the film after his Looper movie finished. But, because he was participating in Star Wars: The Last Jedi till 2017, he couldn’t write the cinematograph of Knives out. After that, in 2018, the movie was officially announced and sold to distributors at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. The movie took only three months to complete filming, from October to December 2018.
On September 7, 2019, at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, the American mystery film had its world premiere. Lionsgate Films released the movie on November 27 theatrically in the United States. A positive response was received from critics and audiences for the movie. The movie was nominated thrice at the 77th Golden Globe Awards, followed by more at 73rd British Academy Film Awards and 92nd Academy Awards. Netflix paid $469 million for the rights to two sequels in the March of 2021.
Both the sequels are directed and written by Johnson. It has been officially confirmed that on December 23, 2022, the first sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, will be released. The audiences loved the first film for the outstanding performances by the lead cast members alongside the engaging screenplay.

Johnson once said that he had an idea for a new film, the sequel to Knives out, as we are all aware that Netflix has already paid $469 million for the movie’s two sequels. The filming for the second part began on June 28, 2021, and it is set to be released on December 23, 2022, as Knives Out Glass Onion. So, right now, you have to wait until the winter for this mystery film.

For T-Street Productions, along with Ram Bergman, Rian Johnson wrote, directed, and produced the movie Knives Out. Filming for this movie began on October 30, 2018, and concluded on December 20, 2018. On September 7, 2019, its world premiere was at the Toronto International Film Festival. The total cost involved in making Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is estimated to be around $40 million. Filming for the sequel started in Spetses on June 28, 2021, and continued again in Greece from July 20, 2021.

Netflix has been paid for the sequels’ rights of the movie, so the next part of the movie will be available on Netflix. Since the next part, Knives Out: Glass Onion, will be released on December 23, 2022, on Netflix, till then, we have to wait for three more months.
On February 7, 2020, Knives Out was released on Digital HD, and on February 25, it was released on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K. On June 12, 2020, it was also made available on Amazon Prime Video.
