Apple TV+ is bringing a brand new television drama series, Lessons in Chemistry, which is written by director, screenwriter, and producer Susannah Grant. The upcoming series is based on the same-name novel that was written by Bonnie Garmus. Grant is also the executive producer of this upcoming drama series, along with Brie Larson, Michael Costigan, and Jason Bateman.
The series featured the most talented American actors including Brie Larson, Patrick Walker, Beau Bridges, Lewis Pullman, Kevin Sussman, Aja Naomi King, Thomas Mann, and Stephanie Koenig.
Set in the 60s, a female scientist starts using a cooking show she has been hosting to provide information on scientific concepts after being fired from her lab. In January 2021, it was announced that Apple TV+ had ordered a drama series and the filming began in August of this year.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Brie Larson would play the lead role in the show, and that the adaptation was scheduled to premiere following the release of the novel on April 5, 2022. Filming for the series started in August this year and is yet to be concluded. So, there is no official release date available for this upcoming drama series. It will probably appear in 2023 or 2024.

The novel’s authors Bonnie Gramus and Doubleday hinted at a possible plot stating that the novel is set in the 60s when scientist turned-cook Elizabeth Zott starts working at Hastings Research Institute. She is sent to a male team who don’t believe in much inequality except Calvin Evans, who loves Zott’s intelligence. Evans might be portrayed by Jason Bateman.
Zott is currently a single mother and hosting a cooking show since her scientific approach to food is famous among everyone. Zott influences those who love to cook. Garmus wants Zott to represent those who were underestimated at one point and uses Zott’s personality to show that she does not put up with that kind of situation.
The show features Brie Larson in the lead, who has already gained a huge fanbase for herself following her appearance in the MCU franchise as Captain Marvel. It will be exciting and different for the audience to witness her in a completely different role compared to what she has played on screen in all these years. The novel on which the show is based is already a big hit and this can prove to be another factor in pulling in many viewers.
