Lying and Stealing, the Matt Aselton criminal drama filmed to the North, with Theo James and Emily Ratajkowski, has been bought by Vertical Entertainment and DirecTV. Following a unique one-month premiere on the television service, a second-quarter was released in 2019.
Vertically, Peter Jarowey and Josh Spector are looking for pictures of the company’s 2019 Timeline at the Sundance Film Festival. In place of the filmmakers, they executed the Lying and Stealing agreement with UTA Independent Film Company. Voltage Pictures sells worldwide rights.

Well the seductive presence, together with Emily Ratajkowski’s intriguing oomph (the enigmatic actress with the severe obligation to the Hollywood producer), of Divergent Theo James (a sweet sexy art thief that can be readily found alongside employment). Matt Aselton, director and co-writer, does not split with the art heist’s spin, but he nevertheless brings a quick B-film pleasure.

Lying and Stealing Plotline and overview
When Elyse meets intriguing art advisor Ivan, she finds that his artwork is much more than the eye encounters. To repay loans to get out of the business, the duo Bonnie and Clyde go on a sequence of highly publicized artisans.
As the leader, Ivan (Theo James) ought to draw us into this. It is extremely exciting as we follow inside a notable affair the silhouette of the strange Ivan. Even if a pistol is pointed against Elysa, she answers with ‘Oh God’ and also has the spirit of a little trouble. This is often the case that Ratajkowski feels uncomfortable before the camera and it makes the spectator uncomfortable. It seems that lying and stealing can’t determine what mood they desire. That’s nowhere more obvious than the FBI officer Lyman Wilkers’ persona (Isiah Whitlock Jr.). Wilkers is shown as a non-nonsense man – urinates into his irritating partner’s filing cabinet the first moment we encounter him – and indicates that Ivan and Elyse threaten to pursue them. But from that moment on, every scenario makes Wilkers a comedy: why he still uses a fax machine or is trying to close his glass on his car. Lying and Stealing turns from a thriller to poor humour between their first and second act and you cannot be faulted because of a sense of confusion.
The screenwriters Aselton and Adam Nagata (who also co-wrote the former director’s movie, “Gigantic,” 10 years ago), strikingly blend low-key character seriousness and thriller, in a simple but rewarding way. Screenwriters Aselton and Adam Hagata Lead James and Ratajkowski are beautiful here (especially as dressed by Natalie O’Brien), especially because they have the opportunity while getting in the classic “You’re hot, I’m hot, let’s do that thing” junction to make their point for moxie and intellect. Melamed takes fairly frightful villainy; there’s good backing too if it turns out to be more transitory.
Some favours were probably summoned to the few affluent collector’s surroundings used here. In any event, the production designer David Batchelor Wilson and DP Corey Walter are giving the picture a beautiful sophisticated appearance that would have undoubtedly gone far beyond means — even if not a very glossy film darkens its substance. Gioia Ostinelli and Sonya Belousova’s original soundtrack does not aim for classic swaggering or vintage sarcasm but for tense electronics on the edges which offer some wry voltage.
What is the Ending of Lying and Stealing
Ivan employs Elyse, the struggling heroine from the Film industry who has been banned for theft from a major producer, to assist arrest, Dimitri. As Elyse is in the pub with Dimitri, Ivan goes to Dimitri’s men’s residence with the agent of the FBI, where both of them are subdued by him. Then he conveys a signal to Dimitri using one of the handicapped men’s phones, teaching him that they murdered Ivan effectively. When Dimitri sees the message, she relaxes and decides to return to her ‘mate’s place’ with Elyse. Once back at home Dimitri takes Elyse out swiftly with a pistol, but Ivan stops him immediately.
A Mexican standoff follows, wherein Dimitri points his weapon towards Dimitri, while Elyse. Dimitri falls from a drug overdose just before a gunshot can be fired, which we subsequently discover was freely put into wine that Dimitri offered. The corpse of the criminal leader is sent to the FBI office and Elyse is in a position to refund her obligation and soothe the hateful producer. ‘Lying and stealing’ concludes at a party with Ivan, Ray and Elyse, who scopes artworks out. A gas explosion caused by Elyse distracts and the film concludes as people are hidden from the room with precious works of art.
It appears like Ivan is locked in the shape of the clever fellow lady Elyse and his spunky brother, Ray, not far from leaving his day of crimes as he was hoping in the beginning, but he has also won two accomplices. Finally, it seems that Elyse also wants to go on working with Ivan and his sibling Ray, for him looting art is a profession with a family (since their father stole art for Dimitri too). Because the filmmaker who first created a circumstance that caused her to meet Ivan now forgives her, Elyse may continue her career as an actor, However, as a recognized actress she doesn’t afford her the obscurity she needed to pull the thefts out it appears to merely give the acting fantasy in support of heists.
Elyse is seldom really thrilled. In addition, she appears jaded by the film business and the affluent in total and is disappointed by what the sleazy Italian filmmaker describes. Why is Ivan stealing art?
Ivan opened the movie with a quotation from the legendary bank robber Willie Sutton, who seemed to say that he had stolen the money out of the bank. The “money” lies in the houses of the rich, in the shape of jewels and art as to Ivan. He went so far as to declare that he would rob from the houses of the rich, rather than from banks if Willie were living today.
At least in the film, Ivan’s hypothesis appears to hold as we witness him stealing with minimal effort the absurdly costly artwork. He does seem to have mastered his goal — the unsuspected affluent who want to display their art, so he can do it easily.
Ivan’s art theft company is so convinced that even in the final scene, we see Elyse also joining her workforce.
Aside from an efficient means of obtaining high-value goods, stealing works of art appears to be a family-owned business. Ivan’s father steals paintings for Dimitri before he dies and leaves his son in bankruptcy. Ivan further states that he had been studying art at the university, particularly in his later years, and showed further his dedication to art. It is a mixture of the familiar tradition, passions and the practical features of the robbery of art that attracts our hero.

Lying and stealing takes place around Los Angeles sleek, but strangely silent radiance, cool colours, whatever the hot or welcoming, Los Angeles was the all-night pool, diner-style Edward-Hopper, vacant highways across the valley and dark lanes.
