Moana is an American-animated adventure film directed by John Meskar and Ron Clements. The movie produced by Walt Disney stars Auliʻi Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Jemaine Clement, Nicole Scherzinger, and Alan Tudyk in the lead roles. The story is not just the hard work of one person but many, Ron Clements, John Musker, Chris Williams, Don Hall, Pamela Ribon, Aaron Kandell, and Jordan Kandell. The story centers on Moana, who is a strong-willed girl, born to make history. The story is an inspiration from Polynesian myths.

The computer-animated movie ‘Moana’ is released on November 14, 2016. It has a running time of around one and a half hours. The movie is a box office hit with a collection of $645 million. Not only that, the movie got positive reviews from critics and also special appraisals for the animation, music, and vocals. The film also received two nominations for the Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, How Far I’ll Go.
It’s been 6 years since the release of ‘Moana’, and so far we haven’t heard any official announcements regarding the second part of the movie. But there are rumors which say Disney is trying to negotiate with The Rock and Auli’i regarding a new project, and there is a chance for it to be ‘Moana 2’. But all of these are just announcements. Till Disney makes an official announcement on the release date of Moana 2 we can’t jump to conclusions. So let’s wait for it to happen. Who knows, it can happen in 2022 itself.

The main characters of Moana are Auli’i Cravalho as Moana, the strong-willed daughter of a Polynesian village chief, and his wife Sina. She is the chosen one for restoring the heart of Te Fiti. Louise Bush as a younger Moana. Dwayne Johnson as Maui, a legendary shape-shifting demigod who starts the journey with Moana to complete her mission. Rachel House as Tala, Tui’s mother, and Moana’s grandmother. Just like Moana, Tala also shares a deep bond with the ocean.

Moana Plot Summary
The story sets on the Polynesian Island of Motunui, where the people worship the goddess of nature, Te Fiti. She brought life to the ocean using a pounamu stone as her heart. Unfortunately, Maui, a shape-shifting demigod, steals the stone to give the power of creation to humans. This angers the goddess, and she disintegrates, and Maui gets attacked by a volcanic demon. In the fight, he loses his heart and his magical fish hook to the depth of the sea.
The story continues a thousand years later, the ocean chooses Moana to restore the heart that was stolen, back to the goddess Te Fiti. But Moana’s mother and father try to keep her away from the ocean so that she will become the chieftess of the Island after a few years. Soon a blight strikes the ocean which destroys the vegetation and fishes in the sea, In order to find the reason behind the new problem, Moana decides to go into the ocean, but her father denies it.
Later, from her grandmother, she gets to know about a secret cave that will help Moana travel into the ocean. Grandmother also informs Moana about the stolen heart which has to be restored by Maui, the demigod so that everything will be back to normal in the ocean. To fulfill her grandma’s wish, Moana sets out to find Maui.
Moana starts her journey into the ocean. After traveling a long distance, she finds Maui. But when she asks him to return the stolen heart, he refuses and locks her in a cave. Later, she convinces him to restore it. They both start their journey to restore the heart. On the way, they face a lot of difficulties but somehow cross everything.
Soon they realize that Maui’s fishhook is important to continue the journey. After fighting with a giant coconut crab they find his fishhook. Maui realizes that Moana is strong, and he starts to like her. He also teaches her the art of sailing and controlling. They soon grow closer.
Finally, they arrive at Te Fiti’s island but get attacked by Ta Ka. Ta Ka gives a strong fight to both Moana and Maui. When Maui feels that he might break his fish hook if he continues fighting. So he abandons Moana and returns back. Moana gets heartbroken and pleads with the ocean to show her way. Later, Maui comes back due to a change of heart and fights Ta Ka.
Meanwhile, Moana searches for Te Fiti on the Island. She gets shocked when she realizes that Te Ka is Te Fiti, as she doesn’t have a heart, she becomes the villain. The ocean makes way for Moana to keep the heart back to Te Fiti. Thus, she successfully finishes her mission. Ti Fiti decorates Moana’s boat for the return journey, and soon the island turns back into its original form. After coming back Moana becomes the chieftess of the island guiding the island.
