Those illusions are perilous, and they lead to a slew of clichés that serve to highlight how refreshing a film like Silver Linings Playbook is. We’re given completely contrasting leads to cheer for throughout David O. Russell’s adaptation by enabling Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence’s characters to both are wounded free cannons with their motives for wanting to dance. We want them to succeed, despite their outbursts and darkest moments, because we’re with them every step of the way.
Fatherhood
“Fatherhood” is based on Matthew Logelin’s 2011 memoir, “Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love,” which chronicled his first year as a new dad after the terrible and untimely loss of Liz, his wife, and the mother of his new born daughter. Matthew in “Fatherhood,” like his autobiographical counterpart, loses his wife one day after their daughter Maddy is born. As a result, Matthew is forced to learn how to be a single father while grieving the loss of his life partner.
Murder by the Coast
