Nimona Release Date
In June 2015, 20th Century Fox Animation obtained the rights for an animated feature film adaptation of Nimona. Nimona is a webcomic by ND Stevenson. Patrick Osborne was chosen to direct from a screenplay by Marc Haime.
It was originally set to release in 2022; however, after Disney shut down Blue Sky Studios in 2021, the movie was officially canceled. Thankfully, Nimona got a second life at Netflix and is scheduled to hit the streaming service in the Summer of 2023. The character of Nimona combines Joan of Arc and a shapeshifter from Stevenson’s imagination.
The movie Nimona is set in a world with an unusual mixture of modern, magical, and medieval elements. The plot focuses on Nimona, who is a shape-shifting teenage girl. She can change into any human or animal and can control her size. The knight, Ballister Blackheart, is on an assignment to assassinate Nimona. However, the concern becomes more complicated when Blackheart is framed. Ironically, it is displayed that the sole person who can help prove Blackheart’s purity is Nimona herself.
