The famous American multi-camera television sitcom, Outmatched was created for the Fox Broadcasting Company by Lon Zimmet. The show focuses on a lower-income couple from Atlantic City working to raise four children, and three of them are geniuses. The creator, Lon Zimmet, is the one and only executive producer of the series.

The makers hired Jason Biggs, Tisha Campbell, Connor Kalopsis, Oakley Bull, Maggie Lawson, Ashley Boettcher, Jack Stanton, Finesse Mitchell, and many more stars for the characters of the series.

It was released for Thursday nights for the 2019-20 television season from January 2020. It is also the only live-action situation comedy show ordered by Fox for the season.

Fox ordered a pilot for the show in January 2019 and they were joined by Fox Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television. The show was greenlit on May 9, 2019, and the title was changed to Outmatched. The show was confirmed to premiere in the winter of 2019, but it was canceled following the premiere of Season 1.

The show did not receive a positive response, and that might be the reason the makers will never finalize a second season. The series holds an approval rating of 22% on Rotten Tomatoes, and on Metacritic, a score of 33 out of 100.

Towards the finale of Season 1, the couple found out that the youngest kid was also a genius. The new season could have explored a bit more about the same and featured how the couple would take care of all four geniuses. But that seems uncertain considering that the show has already been canceled for unknown reasons.

The main focus of the show is on a family of six members where Mike and Kay are working and happy with their jobs. They have four kids and all of them are highly intelligent. The pilot episode introduced the characters and towards the second episode, Mike and Kay talked to their kids, wondering if they had their first kiss until now. They then approached their friends Rita and Irwin for advice and towards Episode 3, when the grandparents arrive, things take a kind of worse turn.

The parents feel insecure about how Jay slams Mike’s parenting and Sylvia starts to connect a bit more with Nicole. In the fourth episode, Kay asks Mike to spread the bad news that the idea to shift to a new house will not be possible, and Mike had to face the consequences by revealing the same to the kids.

In Episode 5, Mike tries to understand Marc and his crush and Kay makes sure that Nicole is not hurt by her date who according to Kay is not perfect for a relationship. Towards Episode 6, the couple searches for a new school for Marc after he creates his issues with a teacher and in the following episode, the duo attempt to make Nicole understand the way to handle failure.

The 8th and 9th episodes featured the couple trying to make new friends with other parents and they go on a date planned by their kids. The finale features Leila’s birthday party where a cover-up with Leila’s birthday is found and a combo theme is finalized for the party, Rita and Irwin try to understand the consequences of being the guardians in the worst situations and while others are busy, Leila discloses that she is a genius because of her artistic ability.
