Schmigadoon is an American musical created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. It was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. The series premiered on July 16, 2021. This series was a parody of the Golden Age musicals of the 1940s and 1950s.

Schmigadoon Season 1 Recap
Schmigadoon is about a married doctor couple Melissa and Josh who goes on a hike as a therapy weekend to bond. While crossing a bridge, the couple ends up going to the 1940s town called the Schmigadoon. In Schmigadoon, everyone acts like they are in a musical. Since Melissa is a huge fan of musicals she thoroughly enjoys her time here while Josh does not.
Melissa and Josh later discover that they cannot leave this town unless they find their “true love”. After discovering this Josh and Melissa end up in an argument, which leads to the couple breaking up!
Melissa meets Schmigadoon’s mayor Aloysius Menlove who cheers her up and Josh meets a young waitress called Betsy. During an auction, Melissa becomes intoxicated and auctions herself. Melissa is later won by Danny.
Melissa wakes up the next day and finds Danny making breakfast for her and Josh is engaged to Betsy even though he is uncomfortable with the fact that she is a minor. Josh tries to cross the bridge with Betsy to check if she was his true love, but he fails miserably.
Meanwhile, Melissa is completely smitten with Doc Lopez and she asks for a job as a nurse to him. Josh becomes Emma’s handyman. The rest of the series shows how things turn out for the characters and do they actually find their “true love” in this journey!
Schmigadoon Season 1 Ending Explained
The season finale begins with Josh and Mel building a tent together in the woods and the present Josh tries to talk Carson to get down the tree as Carson found out the truth about Emma. Josh explains to him how much Emma loves him and would do anything to protect him which makes Carson and Emma patch up by hugging. Josh, Emma, and Carson decide to cross the bridge and move to New York.
Meanwhile, Mel was found sleeping on the side of the road by Lopez. Melissa questions her choice about being with Lopez and Josh wonders the same thing. Josh ends up realizing how much he loves Melissa and goes to find her.
The mayor election is also going on and Milred is so close to winning. Josh and Melissa reunite and Josh finally sings the song “You Make Me Wanna Sing” to show Melissa how he feels about her.
This event changed the hearts of the people as it encouraged a change all over the town. All of the secrets of the townsfolk slowly get revealed. Howard admits he is in love with Aloysius and Nancy also reveals that her mother was Milred!
Aloysius ends up winning the election.
Melissa offers to help Mildred by giving her the opportunity to change herself and become a new person and Milred accepts it.
The season comes to an end with the entire town bands singing together while Melissa and Josh are over the bridge!
