Marvel Fans, Welcome She-Hulk in 2022

She-Hulk was set to feature in the television film The Incredible Hulk’s Death, but the character never appeared, and an ABC television series starring She-Hulk was scrapped a year later.

A film based on the character was in production at New World Pictures in 1991, with Larry Cohen serving as director and Brigitte Nielsen scheduled to play She-Hulk. Nielsen took part in a promotional photo session, but… the project never came to fruition either.

At the D23 convention in August 2019, Marvel Studios revealed that a She-Hulk-based series was in the works for the streaming service Disney+, situated in their shared world, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and to say that we’re excited would be the greatest understatement of the century.

In February 2021, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige mentioned that some of their shows, such as She-Hulk and Moon Knight, were being created with the potential for additional seasons, as opposed to series such as WandaVision, which were developed as restricted events leading into feature films.

Feige defined the project as a “half-hour courtroom comedy” based on John Byrne’s interpretation of She-Hulk in Marvel Comics. It is supposed to be a component of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) television series created by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the franchise’s films. Gao is the show’s main writer, while Kat Coiro is the show’s director.

The series will consist of ten 30-minute episodes, equaling approximately six hours of content.

She-Hulk is a judicial drama that returns us to the universe of the Hulk. Jennifer Walters is being followed as she tries to keep up with her life as a lawyer with her newly acquired skills. We don’t have an official description yet, but Kevin Feige, the chairman of Marvel Studios, has commented about the series and what fans can anticipate.

During a Disney Investor Day in 2020, Feige stated, “[She-Hulk is] a series about a woman trying to navigate the world and be taken as a working professional despite the fact that she is well over 6’7.”

During Disney+ Day 2021, Feige teased the plot once again, saying, “Since Jennifer Walters is a lawyer who specializes specifically in superhero-oriented legal cases, you never know what Marvel characters are gonna pop up from episode to episode.”

She Hulk Comic History

Savage She-Hulk #1, created by Stan Lee and John Buscema, debuted in comic book stores in February 1980, marking her first appearance. The Incredible Hulk’s CBS series gave The Hulk a boost in popularity throughout the 1970s. At the time, rival studio Universal approved The Bionic Woman, a spin-off of The Six Million Dollar Man.

Because Marvel did not invent She-Hulk, if CBS opted to launch a female-led Hulk spin-off, Marvel would not hold the rights. Jennifer Walters was developed in order for Marvel to possess the rights to a female Hulk. Lee and the rest of the Marvel writing team wasted no time in creating a character that has remained a fixture for the brand ever since.

Jennifer Walters aspired to be a successful lawyer. She was already on her way to making those goals come true when she was shot by lackeys of a crime lord she was prosecuting.

Jennifer attempted to suppress the Hulk inside her, but she eventually learned to utilize the potential and even liked her newfound strength. She-Hulk is Walters’ superhero alias, and she fights crime as a lawyer during the day and as an Avenger at night.

Jennifer is more outgoing than her cousin, so she is frequently in her She-Hulk form even when she isn’t performing hero work. In court, on dates, and even in her own flat. It gives her portrayal a lighter tone than Bruce Banner is continually struggling with.
