For those of you that don’t know, Star Wars Rebels is a 3D animated sci-fi tv-show developed by Lucasfilm Animation- taking place 14 years after Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Set in the dark ages, the Galactic Empire is trying to track down the final Jedi and a nascent uprising against the Empire is forming- the show takes you on an adventure like never before. The series’ visual design is influenced by Ralph McQuarrie’s original Star Wars trilogy.

On October 16, 2017, the fourth season aired, alongside which ran a one-hour television feature, Heroes of Mandalore. On March 5, 2018, the season finale was broadcasted. Fans have since anxiously awaited a new season, so let’s get right to it. Here’s everything you should know about Star Wars Rebels season 5.

Will there be a Star Wars Rebels Season 5?

Will there be a Star Wars Rebels Season 5

This question is tricky, because Dave Filoni, the creator, says no, but that doesn’t mean there will be no season 5 at all many predict that Star Wars: Ahsoka will serve as Star Wars Rebels season 5. Let’s talk about both of those angles.

The series’ creator, Dave Filoni didn’t hold back, hide, or run when asked about the possibility of Star Wars Rebels Season 5. He stated that he had no plans to release another installment of the show. He said that it told the entire tale he planned, therefore there was no need for an extra year.

“No. Not really. I was really happy with how that series turned out, and I feel like we got to tell a complete story there. It was one of the things that really drove me to think, well, it would be great to have a complete feeling like that for Clone Wars, so now to have both is really great. I think that there’s always the potential for stories that involve the characters from Rebels, which is maybe a better way to put it. They’ve all earned their place in the galaxy, so to speak, so I’m sure there’s some more of them to do,” were Filoni’s exact words.

Star Wars Rebels does leave several narrative threads unsolved, but Filoni has got a point. He did, at the end of the day, cover more or less everything. The series concluded with the Ghost Crew’s travels as a group.

Will Star Wars: Ahsoka compensate for Star Wars Rebels Season 5?

Ahsoka Tano has been rumored to be featured in The Mandalorian season 2, and because the Disney+ series takes place years after Return of the Jedi, it may give insight into what occurred to their quest for Ezra.

There’s no news yet on whether Sabine or Ezra will appear in the Pedro Pascal-led series.  Ahsoka’s reappearance may give fans some explanations for the unanswered mysteries from Star Wars Rebels. This may also serve as a launchpad for a prequel series for the remaining characters.

Yet, if the series does actually involve Ahsoka and Sabine searching for Ezra and Thrawn, we’re unfortunately getting nothing but a very concentrated Rebels Season 5 episode.

Fourteen years post the collapse of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order, and the emergence of the Galactic Empire, a motley band of rebels band together atop the Ghost, a light freighter, and begin conducting clandestine operations against Imperial forces everywhere on and around the planet Lothal, as well as on other planets threatened by the Empire.

Filoni hints that the story of Sabine Wren might continue. While Lucasfilm has said nothing, Filoni implied, “I think that there’s always the potential for stories that involve the characters from Rebels, which is maybe a better way to put it. They’ve all earned their place in the galaxy, so to speak. So I’m sure there’s some more of them to do. … Certainly, I will say it’s something I’ve given a decent amount of thought to. So you never know when or if it will actually ever take shape.”
