The Stranger Things Season 4 Release Date

The Stranger Things Season 4 Release Date

Netflix has yet to set a release date for Stranger Things Season 4, but the COVID-19 outage will have disrupted their original plans. Due to the pandemic, filming for the new season was only able to last for a few months before being halted, with filming not resuming until October 2020. Filming was scheduled to take place for seven months, from January to August 2020, however, Stranger Things has a lengthy post-production timetable.

There will be a four-month delay between the end of filming and the release of Stranger Things Season 4 at the earliest. And, at the very least, quite a deal longer. So, unfortunately, Season 4 is unlikely to be released before late 2021 at the earliest, and it’s more likely that Stranger Things Season 4 will be released in the first part of 2022.

When Is Stranger Things Season 4 Filming?

When Is Stranger Things Season 4 Filming

Stranger Things Season 4 began filming in Lithuania in February 2020, in a different environment. As we saw in the Season 4 teaser video, the team decided to start with Hopper’s sequences in the Russian prison since they utilized Lithuania to stand in for Russia’s cold landscape. After a few weeks of filming in Atlanta, which had served as the base of operations for the previous three seasons, the COVID-19 epidemic struck, and production was halted. Filming in Georgia resumed in September, although cast members have been in and out of Atlanta because the production was shot in blocks.

When Is Stranger Things Season 4 Set?

When Is Stranger Things Season 4 Set

While we don’t have a certain date for the release of Stranger Things Season 4, we can make an informed prediction based on the time gap between previous seasons. Season 1 premiered in November 1983, followed by Season 2 in October 1984, and Season 3 in the summer of 1985. The biggest gap between seasons for Stranger Things has been a year, although it’s conceivable that the timeframe for Season 4 has moved a little to account for how much the cast has grown since filming was delayed due to the epidemic. As a result, we predict Stranger Things Season 4 to take place anytime between the fall/winter of 1985 and 1986, or perhaps 1987.

The Stranger Things Season 4 Storyline

The Stranger Things Season 4 Storyline

The majority of Stranger Things 4’s plot is unknown, however, when production began in February 2020, a brief description was released, confirming that David Harbour’s Hopper will return and that the character wasn’t dead after all. You may recall that Hopper sacrificed himself in front of the massive portal that the Russians had created up under Hawkins, Indiana at the end of Stranger Things 3. However, we were transferred to a Russian jail in a post-credits sequence, where guards were discussing “the American” in one of their cells.

Hopper is imprisoned in Kamchatka, Russia, in Season 4 of Stranger Things, where “he will encounter both human… and other dangers.” Indeed, we saw the Russians have their own Demogorgon in the Stranger Things 3 post-credits sequence.

The Duffer Brothers have also claimed that Season 4 will take place outside of Hawkins, Indiana, as the Byers family had adopted Eleven and were moving out of Hawkins when we last saw them. That doesn’t mean Season 4 will abandon Hawkins, as we know from the casting descriptions that the Hellfire Club – Hawkins High’s Dungeons & Dragons club – will play a significant part in the coming season.

The Stranger Things Season 4 Trailer

The first Stranger Things Season 4 trailer was published to coincide with the start of filming on February 4, 2020. It’s simply a short teaser with only footage of David Harbour’s Hopper, but it’s better than nothing. Then, on May 6, 2021, another teaser was revealed, this time transporting us back to the Rainbow Room and hinting at more of Eleven’s origin tale to be explored in Season 4.
