Netflix’s original TV series, Summertime, is about a socially inept introverted young woman who sticks to the rules and does not break character, and is swept up by a famous motorcycle racer who is visiting her town over the summer. The Italian teen drama follows a constant will they or won’t they dynamic between the two which we strive to discover towards the end.
Summertime Plot
This Italian romance drama series focuses on Summer and her romantic life. Ale is completely opposite to Summer in terms of his personality and lifestyle. Summer is an introvert, sticks to the rules, prefers to stay in her own shell, and hates summer. She decides to look for a job at the Grand Hotel Cesenatico to support her mother and make a living since her father left to work in a different country over the summer to pursue his profession as a Jazz musician.
Ale is from Rome, a young famous motorcyclist currently on break because of a deadly accident that almost killed him. His mother is the manager of the hotel where Summer is working, he eventually falls for Summer. Both of them united, try to solve their fears and insecurities, and help each other to resolve them.
Throughout the first two seasons, there are quite a few love triangles and we see Summer’s confused and convoluted life issues. She is dying to escape her reality owing to her introverted nature but is unable to cause she has to make a living and support her family with her dad gone.
Summer and Ale keep colliding, separating, and coming back to each other in ways and sparks fly where they give each other another shot again.
Summertime Season 4 Release Date
As of the current timing, Summertime has not been renewed for the fourth season. The show always intended to wrap up the story through the course of three seasons as the show is based on Federico Moccia’s book trilogy and the third and final book, “Three Times You“, which nicely brings the audience to a closure with the story and so does the show with its recently released third season.
Netflix has itself originally planned three seasons for Summertime so the likeliness of another season is mostly none at all. It confirmed in 2021 that the third season would be the final one so we can mostly expect this to be the end of Summertime.
