The Beast Must Die Season 1 Plot Summary
The story sets on the Isle of Wight. It is about a mother who lost her son in an accident. Frances Cairnes’s son dies in a hit-and-run accident. Unable to bear the loss of other sons, she sets out to kill the man, whom she believes, is the killer of her son. She somehow manipulates him and enters his house. She makes plans to kill him by staying in his house.
The story begins with Frances Cairnes hunting for the person who killed her 6-year-old son. Meanwhile, Nigel Strangeways, a private detective transfers to the Isle of Wight n the hope of starting a new life after the death of his colleague. Finally, she tracks down the person whom she believes is the killer, George and plots plan to get into his house to take revenge.
Though Nigel shifted to a new place he still finds t difficult to cope with his past. It becomes impossible to deal with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and in order to distract himself, he focuses on the ongoing investigation. Coincidently, Strangeways ends up investigating Frances’s case files. Now that Frances is inside his house, she starts to plot plans to kill that person.
On the other hand, Strangeway’s suspicions about Frances’s case grow as the days pass by. After digging up a lot and staying inside the killer’s house, Frances finds a perfect weapon to kill the killer. She takes him for a boat ride and poisons him while chit-chatting.
She mixes poison in the brandy and gives it to George. Unaware of the fact that he is being poisoned he finishes half the bottle of brandy which was more than enough to kill him. In this way, she finally takes revenge against the killer. Although throughout the series they don’t show how he killed the son, he was confirmed as the murderer. In the final episode of the series, we can witness Strangeways struggling to solve Frances’s case before it gets too late. This puts an end to the first season of the series.
