Although the show was released nine years ago, it seems able to attract attention still, if not for its quite cliché storyline, then for its gorgeous and famous cast. Members of The Heirs cast, like Lee Min-ho, Park Shin-Hye, and Kim Woo-bin, have been part of many successful projects since The Heirs, gathering formidable fan bases like any talented Korean entertainer or group. If not for this, why else will anyone be asking for season 2 of a show that is logically not anything special?
The Heirs, also known as The Inheritors or 왕관을 쓰려는 자, 그 무게를 견뎌라 – 상속자들, is a South Korean drama series written by Kim Eun-sook and created by Choi Moon-suk for SBS TV. The series premiered on October 9, 2013, and wrapped up with its 20th episode on December 12, 2013. Filmed in South Korea and the United States, The Heirs is a production of Hwa&Dam Pictures and the American digital distribution platform, DreamFever. Yoon Ha-rim was the executive producer while Shin Bong-Chul and Lee Sung-hoon served as producers on the show.
The Heirs was directed by Kang Shin-hyo and Boo Sung-chul with Lee Kwang-young, Choi Ji-young, and Choi Yong-joon as creative directors. The show aired only one 20-episode season in 2013, distributed by Seoul Broadcasting System. Each episode of The Heirs is about one hour long. The show and its cast have been recipients of several prestigious awards including Best Modern Drama and Outstanding Lead Actress (Park Shin-Hye) at the 2014 Asia Rainbow TV Awards, and Best Asian Actor (Lee Min-ho) at the 2013 Baidu Fei Dian Awards. What are The Heirs about?
The Heirs, also known as The Inheritors, is a teen romance series centered around Kim Tan, the secretly illegitimate heir of Jeguk Group, a large Korean conglomerate. The story follows Kim Tan’s rivalry with his stepbrother, Kim Won; his former best friend, Choi Young-do, heir to the Zeus Hotel Group; and Kim Tan’s entanglement in a love triangle involving said former best friend, and his housekeeper’s daughter, Cha Eun-sang. Having been exiled to the US by his older brother, Kim Tan meets Cha Eun-sang in California, where a visit with Eun-sang’s older sister reveals an ugly truth about her poor standard of living.
A misunderstanding leads to Eun-sang being arrested and having her passport confiscated. Kim Tan steps in, allowing her to stay in his home. Soon, Kim Tan’s arrogant fiancée, Yoo Rachel, heiress to the clothing company RS International, has Eun-sang thrown out. Having developed feelings for the poor and hardworking girl, Kim Tan decides to chase Eun-sang to Korea, where he lands himself in a love triangle with Choi Young-do and a battle for the family business with his older brother. The Heirs follows a group of privileged high schoolers at the Jeguk High School, as they fight for their family businesses, and for love.
The Heirs Season 2 Release Date
It has been a little over nine years since The Heirs, and although shows have been revived after more years than nine have passed, I think it’s safe to say The Heirs is not one of them. Despite rumors, The Heirs has not been renewed for season 2 as of October 24, 2022. There is no reason to believe that the show will film or air another season seeing as our male and female lead already got their happy ride into the sunset. Nevertheless, if something hits out of the blue, we will be sure to let you know.

If there is a world where The Heirs is renewed for season 2, the value will definitely be lost if the cast members of season 1 do not reprise their roles.
