Created by Ki Min-soo and Hong Seok-gu, The King’s Affection is a South Korean historical fiction romantic comedy-drama television series that is based on Lee So-young’s manhwa Yeonmo, and it sets the birth of the protagonist in 1461. The executive producers of the series are Yoon Jae-hyuk, Song Min-Joo, Han Hye-Yeon, and Park Chun-ho, and the producers are Ahn Chang-Hyeon, Baek Sung-min, and Hwang Ui-Kyung. The series is also known as Attachment.

The makers of the series have hired some most talented stars for the characters of it that include Park Eun-bin, Nam Yoon-su, Bae Yoon-Kyung, Rowoon, Choi Byung-chan, Jung Chae-Yeon, and many more are there.

Directed by Song Hyun-wook, the series debuted on KBS2 from October 11 to December 14, 2021, for its 20 episodes every Monday and Tuesday at 21:30 (KST). In 2021 at the Korea First Brand Awards Jung Chae-Yeon won the award for Female Acting Idol, and in the same year at KBS Drama Awards Rowoon, won two awards as Best New Actor and another one as Popularity Actor Award, Park Eun-bin, and Rowoon won the best couple award, Choi Myung-bin won the award of a best young actor.

Park Eun-bin won two awards – one is the Top Excellence Award as Actress and the other one is the Popularity Actress Award. In 2022 at Korean Broadcasting Awards Park Eun-bin won the best actor award and in the same year at Seoul International Drama Awards, Han Hee-Jung won the Best actor award for this drama series.

Produced by Story Hunter Productions and Monster Union, The King’s Affection has not been renewed for a second season yet, so, there is no official plot available for the second season. But if the makers release the new season, it will be continued from where the first season ends.

The premise of the first season is set in the backdrop of the Joseon Dynasty, and it was a time when the birth of twins was said to be a bad sign. When the Crown Princess Consort gives birth to twins, the daughter is ordered to be killed and to keep her alive, she is secretly moved to an unknown location outside the palace.

The twin daughter Dam-Yi then joins as a housekeeper at the palace after a few years. The male twin Lee Hwi eventually dies following a situation of mistaken identity and their mother eventually manages to recognize her daughter. After finding out that her daughter is none other than Dam-Yi, she asks her to go in place of Lee Hwi. She agrees, and although she tries to stay away from everyone, she starts to develop feelings for Jung Ji-woon, her first love and a teacher who belongs to a noble family.
