The Lost City Plot
The fictional protagonist Dr. Angela Lovemore and her love interest Dash McMahon are the focus of Dr. Loretta Sage’s romance-adventure books. Despite her isolation following the passing of her husband, Loretta’s publisher, Beth Hatten, insisted that she go on a book tour with Alan Caprison, Dash’s cover model, to promote the most recent book on Lovemore.
After a dismal beginning, largely brought on by the success of Alan’s Dash character, Loretta is discovered by Abigail Fairfax, a multibillionaire who discovers that Loretta based her works on actual historical research she conducted with her late archaeological husband. On a secluded island in the Atlantic, he found a vanished city, and he is certain that the Crown of Fire, a precious treasure, is there. Fairfax chloroforms Loretta and takes her to the island after she declines to assist in deciphering an ancient map that leads to the riches out of concern that an active volcano will destroy the location.
The kidnapping of Loretta is witnessed by Alan, who is secretly in love with her. However, Fairfax kidnaps her once more before they can depart, so Alan must pursue her to save Loretta. The two are then compelled to reveal the location of the wealth to Fairfax.
When they arrive, they learn that the tomb was actually used by the queen to hide her grief over her spouse rather than as a symbol of Taha and Calaman’s dominance. Red seashells that he had collected as a token of his love for her were used to make her Crown of Fire. Not a priceless jewel, but rather the king and queen’s undying love, was the true treasure of the legend.
As the volcano erupts, Fairfax throws Alan and Loretta into the tomb out of rage, but one of the men, Rafi, has a change of heart and leaves a crowbar to assist them to escape before leaving Fairfax alone on the island. When Beth and the local coast guard arrive, Fairfax is taken into custody. Following the success of Loretta’s subsequent book, which is based on her journey with Alan, they kiss at the conclusion of their subsequent book tour. In a scene during the credits, Loretta and Alan are at a yoga session when they learn that Jack survived being shot.
