The Mandalorian Season 3 Plot

If you believed Mando would abandon his son in the hands of CGI Luke Skywalker forever, you were mistaken. Mando pays a visit to Grogu to see how he’s doing with his training. He even receives a small gift crafted for the child, all wrapped up in linen and sporting Yoda ears! Grogu’s present turns out to be some brand new armor.

Luke Skywalker gives the small kid an option at the end of Episode Six, asking if he wants to be a Mandalorian or a Jedi. Cut to the end of The Book of Boba Fett, as Grogu returns to Tatooine in his new Mandalorian garb.

As the episode concludes, we see Mando and Grogu flying through the galaxy after what may be the longest combat ever seen in Star Wars. This most likely indicates that in Season Three, the two will embark on the Mandalore redemption mission, with Mando learning the Darksaber and his ball-loving pal studying the ways of the Force without a teacher.

“The way that Lucasfilm left me in Season 2, one of the roads that could be gone down—absolutely, you’d think—would be the unfinished business,” says Sackhoff. “But that is so far above my pay grade, and you just don’t know, right? As a fan of the show, I’m just excited to see what they come up with.”

Season one of The Mandalorian premiered in November 2019, followed by season two in October 2020, with both seasons concluding in December. Considering filming as well as the time-consuming process of CGI and special effects show is probably far away right now.

There hasn’t been an official statement on the release date yet, but that doesn’t imply that there isn’t guessing.

The third season is expected to launch on Disney+ in December 2022, according to rumors. This makes sense because it corresponds to the same time frame as Seasons One and Two, which both debuted around the same time.

Jon Favreau, the creator, and showrunner of The Mandalorian, had been scripting a third season for “a while” by April 2020, and additional development on the season had begun.

Giancarlo Esposito remarked in September that the second season will “start to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that’s going to come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers.”

Following the announcement of The Book of Boba Fett for December 2021 in the second-season finale, many hypothesized that the third season will change the focus from Din Djarin, The Mandalorian, to Boba Fett. Favreau quickly clarified that The Book of Boba Fett was a different spin-off series that was already in development in December 2020, with The Mandalorian’s third season concentrating on Djarin again. He went on to say that the third season was in the works and that filming will begin in 2021. Carl Weathers, who co-stars in the film, will direct again this season.

The Mandalorian season 3 cast is far from carbonite at this early stage. Pedro Pascal will reprise his role as Din Djarin, and Grogu will rejoin him. There were worries that the continuing filming of Pascal’s other new program, The Last of Us TV series, might take precedence over The Mandalorian season 3 and cause a delay, but work has now begun.

Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Moff Gideon, also confirmed in an interview with EW that Gideon will most likely have a larger role in the third installment. “I have a feeling you’ll see more of me next season. More than likely you’re going to see a lot of Moff Gideon,” Esposito says.

Bill Burr says, “Oh, I hope so. Jon Favreau and Rick Famuyiwa, who wrote both of my episodes that I did – to be a small part of something that big that is that good that means so much to so many people. I’m obviously not allowed to say anything other than I just absolutely love being on that show and I hope it continues and if it doesn’t, I’ve had a blast.”

Carl Weathers has stated that he would reprise his role as Greef Karga and will also direct the film. After The Mandalorian season 2 concludes, we may anticipate Katee Sackhoff to reprise her role as Bo-Katan, especially since the Darksaber is now in Din’s hands. Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka may return, albeit she has a forthcoming spin-off and her status is unknown.

Meanwhile, Sasha Banks, has stated that she will not be reprising her role as Koska Reeves in season 3. Cara Dune, played by Gina Carano, will also not be participating in the series.
