It is based on the same name stand-alone thriller novel which Thomas Perry writes and published by the American publishing company The Mysterious Press on January 3, 2017. Robert Levine and Jonathan E. Steinberg are also the executive producers of the series alongside Warren Littlefield, Jon Watts, Dan Shotz, David Schiff, and Jeff Bridges, and producer Judd Rea.

The Old Man Season 2 Release Date
The series was in the filming stage until it had to be stopped because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Production continued but once again it was stopped when Bridges was diagnosed with lymphoma and had to take a break. The shoot continued with filming scenes where Bridges did not have an important part. Production eventually continued at a rapid pace in February 2022. The thriller series premiered on June 16, 2022, on the streaming service platform FX in Canada and United States. On July 13, 2022, the series aired on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ (Star) in New Zealand and Australia.
The first season was loved by the audience and the response was so positive that the makers renewed it immediately for another season after a few episodes. The makers have renewed the series for a second season on June 27, 2022. But they haven’t announced an official release date for it. The principal character here is Dan Chase, who is residing in Upstate New York for 30 years. He was a CIA operative and had to run away after he killed an intruder who entered his house. Chase takes a room on rent from Zoe McDonald who also ran away with him. FBI Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Harold Harper is asked to bring back Dan and the duo is already holding grudges against each other due to something that happened during the Soviet-Afghan war. Harper is joined by FBI agent Angela Adams and CIA officers Raymond Waters and hit-man Julian Carson
