This French Netflix series is based on the 2019 book The 7 Lives of Léo Belami by Nataël Trapp with a female protagonist and like every other time-travel fiction teaches us once again, no matter how luring it may seem or how noble and earnest the intention may be, it is wiser to allow things to flow as fate has chosen for it to be rather than trying to control it and create a bigger mess.
The Seven Lives of Lea Plot
The story is about a carefree and rebellious teenager, Lea, who because of her youth does not care about any danger or think before her actions and has no ambitions to graduate high school or any sense of responsibility to secure her future. She prefers to live in the moment without thinking about the impending doom and consequences her future self may face for her present actions. This was until she discovered a skeleton by the riverside which would be enough to shake and jolt away anyone but her journey does not stop there. She is then transported back in time in the body of now dead, Ismael, whose skeleton she has found before.
In the current timeline, the police are investigating Ismael’s death and Lea subsequently carries out her own detective work side by side to unravel the mystery but every time in a different person’s body-her mom Katrine, her dad Stephane, the notorious bully Pye and more. It is convoluting but somehow they are all connected to Ismael’s death and his last day. Lea is determined to know how and what exactly happened to lead to his death. She shares all these details and her findings to her best friend who finds these to be silly and treats them as a joke and prefers Lea to check herself for therapy.
All of this body-swapping also exposes to her some of her parent’s hidden secrets.
Everything About The Seven Lives of Lea Season 2
The first season of the show was released on April 28, 2022, and as of now, there has been no update regarding its renewal from the makers or any other sources on official grounds.
In spite of being a show in a foreign language, it has grabbed the attention of viewers worldwide and the prospect of a sequel would excite its global audience as well. Netflix, if takes into account the popularity and increasing attention the show is gaining might consider giving the show a renewal so we can be hopeful about it.
If season 2 happens we can expect it to reach us around mid-2023.
What can we Expect in The Seven Lives of Lea Season 2?
If we do get a potential season 2 since this show is different than other time-travel shows in the sense that the time-traveler is not stuck in a different timeline but living in the present and going through these body swaps, we can expect more depth into different characters and their point-of-views through Lea and unravel more mysteries and secrets, of course!
