The Terminal List Season 2 Release date, cast, plot, and More

Since the release of the first season of the action thriller television series, ‘The Terminal List’, fans have expressed their excitement for a second season. After much speculation, executive producer and star Chris Patt finally gave some updates on a potential follow-up season! The show is based on Jack Carr’s 2018 novel of the same name, which is a debut novel of Navy SEAL-turned-author Jack Carr.

In Terminal List, Lieutenant Commander James Reece is a Navy SEAL trying to avenge his family’s murder. It consists of eight episodes in which Reece embarks on a road of revenge and discovers dark secrets he had no idea he was about to discover. In the process, he threatens his own life and the lives of those close to him.

Created by and executive produced by David DiGilio, the show’s other executive producers include Chris Pratt, Antoine Fuqua, Jack Carr, Jon Schumacher, Daniel Shattuck, and David Auge. Max Adams, Kat Samick, and Ronald Cosmo Vecchiarelli are the producers of the show in association with Amazon Studios, Indivisible Productions, Fuqua Films, DiGilio Films, Civic Center Media, and MRC Television. The book series published by Carr consists of five entries ‘The Terminal List’, ‘True Believer,’ ‘Savage Son,’ ‘The Devil’s Hand,’ and ‘In the Blood’, of which season 1 was based on the first book.

The first season of ‘The Terminal List’ was released on July 1, 2022, and consisted of eight episodes with a running time of 50-66 minutes per episode. As for season 2, no official statement has been released either by the creators or Amazon Prime Video regarding the show’s renewal. However, certain people involved in the show have expressed their eagerness to do a second season and have dropped a few hints. The future of The Terminal List received a hopeful boost in the September 21st edition of Carr’s Danger Close podcast.

While Carr teased that some “cool stuff” is being considered, Pratt informed the fans that they “have nothing to worry about”. The official statements were:

O Pratt: “To the rabid fans of The Terminal List out there, you have nothing to worry about. We love you and appreciate your support. It’s our life’s mission to make sure you can come back to the well. We are working away.”

O Carr: “There may be some cool stuff on the horizon being discussed”.

The book’s author, Jack Carr, revealed to the Daily Mail in late August 2022 that Pratt would be considering negotiations for a second season. “Chris wants to do it and Amazon wants to do it. But it could all fall apart,” he said. “It would be an eight-part series based on the second book True Believer. We shall see”. If season 2 does get confirmed within the next few months, we can expect it to be released sometime in the second quarter of 2024.

The Terminal List Season 2 Cast

With Season 1 of ‘The Terminal List’ ending, there are very few people left for Season 2. However, True Believer introduces a number of new characters that could potentially bring other potential stars to the series. The character to return for sure for the probable season 2 is Chris Pratt as Lieutenant Commander James Reece. Of the other characters that were featured in season 1, the ones portrayed by Kitsch, Keough, Tripplehorn, Mertz, Courtney, and Schwarzenegger are most likely not to return since they died in the first season, except for flashback scenes.

If the second season is to follow the book, ‘True Believer’, there will be a brand-new cast along with the plot being set extremely differently. Recce’s friend Raife can also be shown in the second season owing to his several mentions in season 1. While Constance Wu will likely reprise her role, that probably won’t be the same case for Katie Branek, as she isn’t quite as prominent a character as she was in the first book.

The season 1 finale saw Hartley commit suicide after realizing that there was no more of a political career left for her. Reece, through Katie’s assistance, discovers that Ben was the one who provided false information about Kahani. Reece drops the list in the ocean right after killing Ben. It is strongly suggested that he go to Mozambique next.

If season 2 of ‘The Terminal List’ does happen, it is said to follow the second book in the series, ‘True Believer.’ This novel follows James Reece on a new adventure as he accepts a presidential pardon in exchange for his actions in The Terminal List. The U.S. government is trying to stop a global terrorist plot involving a “shadowy former Iraqi commando” with whom he has a history. James Reece is always on the move hunting down terrorists and searching for answers, which is all part of his day’s work as he uncovers a global conspiracy involving a CIA traitor and “a sinister assassination plot with worldwide implications”.

A key aspect of the plot could be an explanation of how Reese survived his deadly tumor. Due to his acceptance of death, it’s unlikely that Reece would have looked for a cure, especially since he lost his will to live after his wife and daughter died. If the tumor wasn’t actually harmful, as they believed, it would be a whole new worm in terms of how he handles this reality and where he’s going from here. The can may be opened.

The shared history of Reece and Raife may be explored in prospective season 2 when Reece spends some time with Raife’s family in Mozambique before the outside world tries to locate him. Reece is the only man able to stop a former Iraqi commando from wreaking havoc in Europe.
