Directed by Karim Amer and Jehane Noujaim, The Vow is an American true crime documentary television series that is based on the cult NXIVM and the leader of the same, Keith Raniere. Amer and Noujaim are also the executive producers of the series along with Geralyn White Dreyfous, Nina Fialkow, Regina K. Scully, Lisa Heller, Mike Lerner, Lyn Davis Lear, and Nancy Abraham.
Production for the show started in 2017 and focused on Sarah, Mark, Bonnie, Anthony, and Catherine while they planned to escape NXIVM because they were scared that Clare Bronfman might file a lawsuit. Cinema verite shot the entire series with no assurance about NXIVM and Raniere. Noujaim and Amer remained a part of the show before Oxenberg reunited with her daughter India in Season 1.
Oxenberg distanced herself from the production fearing her daughter would not reunite in front of the cameras. India kept herself away from the show and was not prepared to share her story with anyone. However, she decided to do it in Seduced, which explored the story being told by her and her mother. Cult expert Janja Lalich also offered some advice for the show.
The Vow debuted on August 23, 2020, followed by the second season on October 17, 2022, and received a good response from critics and audiences. Currently, The Vow holds an approval rating of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Vow Season 3 Release Date
There is no release date available for The Vow Season 3 since the makers haven’t renewed the series for a third season.
HBO greenlittled the show in April 2019. HBO Documentary Films was announced as the producer and while speaking to Variety in September 2020, Noujaim said that they spoke to everyone and the series was renewed for another season on October 16, 2020. Coming to Season 2, Noujaim helmed it without Karim Amer, who changed his focus to other shows and also remained an executive producer. Noujaim wished to have an interview with all those linked to NXIVM alongside Nancy Salzman, who took some time to be a part of the show.
The Vow Season 3 Plot
Because the show is a documentary, we cannot speak anything about what we would get to see in Season 2. For now, we need official confirmation from the makers and in case they reveal any minor details, we will update here.
Season 2 of the show puts emphasis on Raniere’s trial and a better view of his inner circle and supporters alongside an interview with the founders and supporters of the NXIVM that include Nancy Salzman, Michelle Salzman, Nicki Clyne, Marc Elliot, Michele Hatchette, and others. This also includes journalist Emily Saul and attorney Marc Agnifilo.
