Upload, a film by Daniels, is set soon and depicts people being “uploaded” into a virtual afterlife of their choice. The story follows Nathan Brown (Amell), a young software developer who ends himself in the hospital after a self-driving vehicle accident and must make a hasty decision about his fate. About Upload Season 2
After he gets uploaded to his luxurious afterlife, Nathan meets his customer service “Angel,” Nora Anthony (Allo), who goes from his charming concierge to his confidante, assisting him in navigating this new digital extension of his life.
Season 2’s synopsis follows such a path that in his afterlife, Nathan stands at a fork in the path… Ingrid, his ex-girlfriend, has unexpectedly come in Lakeview, seeking to rebuild their bond, but his heart still yearns for Nora, his customer service angel. Nora, on the other hand, has gone off the grid and joined the anti-tech rebel organisation ‘The Ludds.’
Season Two is jam-packed with fresh near-future themes, such as Lakeview’s new in-app digital update baby programme, ‘prototykes,’ and other ironic peeks of future technology advancements and frustrations.”
Amell says, “I think you’ll probably get to see a little bit more of the supporting characters this season, which is awesome. I think Zainab [Johnson, who plays Aleesha], Kevin [Bigley, who plays Luke] and Allegra [Edwards, who plays Ingrid] are so funny and so talented. I’m excited to see more from them, and the show ended on a big moment for a lot of the characters and I’m excited to see where it goes.”
Amell also said “Nathan’s back at square one with Ingrid, but there’s so much left to figure out at the end of season one with the relationship between Nathan and Nora, and Nathan and Ingrid. I’m just excited. I actually think that the dramatic side of things with Nathan and Nora can be explored with her having left at the end of the first season, and the danger she’s in, and the relationship kind of being left on a bit of a weird note and a cliffhanger.”
Andy Allo (Nora) has her own views, “I love Nora and I love her story and I love the possibilities because they’re limitless. This world is so vast and so rich, it’s so full of stories and also the things that we haven’t discovered yet that we get to discover together, and then the different rules of this new world, there are so many things to explore.”
She also made this statement: “I would love to…dive deeper into this whole new kind of futuristic world and what it means having a digital afterlife.”
Everything apart, we’ve got a few unanswered questions: How did Ingrid upload to Lakeview? What does the love triangle between Nathan, Nora, and Ingrid hold? How did Nathan die?
Daniels talked of this. He said, “I don’t know. At the time, there was this mystery aspect to the show and I didn’t wanna solve it. There’s also the romantic aspect as well, and I didn’t wanna finish that up. Those two things, I wanted to continue into a possible next season.”

What Happened at the End of Upload Season 1?
Nathan downgrades his premium membership to the free version of Lakeview at the end of Upload Season 1, making him a “Two Gig” – a lower-tier class of inhabitants who could only access two gigabytes of data monthly.
Nora survives a strike on her life in the real world, most probably paid for by those individuals who assassinated Nathan. Before travelling to an isolated place where she’ll be secure but cut off from technology — and Nathan — she professes her love to a frozen Nathan.
Ingrid informs Nathan that she deliberately died to be “uploaded” to Lakeview and be with him when she contacts him (briefly wakening him from his frozen). That is the heart of the matter.
Upload Season 2 Production – What Does the Cast and Crew Say?
Daniels has had a lot of thinking to do. Here are a few of the comments he made.
“I’m aware that it could be frustrating for people to not have complete closure on anything, but if you think about the end of Harry Potter’s first movie, Voldemort is still a problem.”
“When I originally pitched it, I had two seasons worked out in advance. Maybe I was a little overconfident, but I do have a feeling of where we’re going. The amount of closure at the end is something I debated with Amazon, and after we shot it, we pulled back on some of the closing up of things,” he said.
Allo had a few things to say too.
“I feel like Nora found in Nathan something that she has been yearning for and searching for. She saw her parents have this ideal love and relationship that played out until the end, and she’s been looking for that. There’s a part of her that feels like she found that thing that we all search for in Nathan. Obviously, it’s in the most complicated place, but I wanna see their story play out. I think it’ll be interesting for her being away, and her journey back to the real world and what that looks like. There’s so much there.”
