WeCrashed Season 1 Plot Summary
The eight-episode drama is based on the podcast WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork by Wondery. The story begins with Adam and his wife Rebekah assembling in the office for an emergency meeting. The reason is Adam did something dangerous that destructed the functioning of the company. Then, the flashback starts where Adam presents his business ideas to many people but almost everyone rejects his ideas.
In between this chaos, he meets Rebekah, and after a long struggle, he persuades her and makes her fall for him. Soon after that, they get married. Though his love life is awesome, his work life still remains a question mark. Rebekah complains that he is not passionate about his work. This motivates him and he partners with his friend Miguel and starts a business where they lease buildings for businesses and stores. This marks the beginning of the startup, WeWork.
Meanwhile, Rebekah grows in her career from being a model to an actress. She signs a new project where she gets the role of Masha. Even before the business pitches up, Adam decades to start another office. Miguel rejects the idea but Adam carries on with his idea of expanding the startup. Adam catches hold of Stavos to invest in his business.
Soon everything falls into place. Rebekah resigns from being an actress and joins Adam. Rebekah faces unexpected issues in her family when her father gets arrested for committing fraud in his business. Though she tries to help her father, the case becomes strong because of her father’s past fraud history. When she approaches Adam for help, he is already busy with WeWork issues. In the process of solving her father’s issue, she creates a mess because of the wrong words used by her in a speech. Though it took some time, she clears her name later.
Apart from their work-life issues, Adam and Rebekah start having issues with each other. Like every other company, WeWork also faces credential issues. Adam commits some fraudulent activity which creates chaos in the company. At the end of the final episode, we see Adam being removed as the CEO of WeWork. He cannot be dismissed because he holds the majority share n the company. The Wall Street Journal publishes the news of removal. This brings us to the end of Season one of the drama.
