Created for the American pay television channel FX by New Zealand filmmaker, musician, actor, and comedian Jemaine Atea Mahana Clement, What We Do in the Shadows is an American comedy-horror mockumentary fantasy drama television series. It is the second television series that is based on the 2014 film of the same name, which is written by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement. Waititi and Clement are the executive producers of the series, along with Paul Simms, Garrett Basch, Stefani Robinson, Scott Rudin, and Eli Bush.
The show is set in the backdrop of Staten Island in New York City. It focuses on three traditional vampires – Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja. It features the main characters interacting in today’s world and with other supernatural beings.
The creators hired the most talented stars for the characters for the series including Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Mark Proksch, Matt Berry, and Harvey Guillén.

The series’ first season debuted on March 27, 2019, and ran for more than 3 Seasons till July 2022. Afterward, ahead of the fourth season premiere, the show’s makers renewed the series for two more seasons on June 6, 2022. Since the fourth season concluded recently, it is not possible for them to confirm a release date for season 5 of the show. However, the makers have taken a gap of more than a year for releasing a new season after the renewal, so, we can expect that the new season will be aired in 2023.
