When Calls the Heart Season 9 Release Date, Cast, Plot and Much More

When Calls the Heart Season 9 has a premiere date – but it’s not what fans were hoping for.

The start of a new year signals the start of a new season of the Hallmark original series, and after nearly a year without new episodes, viewers are eager to discover what their favorite Hope Valley inhabitants have been up to. Since the historical drama’s launch in 2014, WCTH viewers have become used to tuning in each February to watch Elizabeth’s (Erin Krakow) exploits. However, this time, they were taken aback by a tiny (yet, major somehow) alteration.

Here’s all you need to know about When Calls the Heart!

About When Calls the Heart

When Calls the Heart covers the lives of people in the little hamlet of Hope Valley, particularly Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow), a local teacher.

Elizabeth had found love with and married a Mountie (Daniel Lissing) throughout the first eight seasons of the program, but she soon becomes a widow following his tragic death. She gives birth to their son, whom she calls Jack after her late husband.

Elizabeth adapts to life as a single mom in the years ensuing her husband’s death and is pursued by two new admirers- Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) or another Mountie, Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry). Elizabeth ended up choosing between the two men in the season 8 finale, a choice that has divided fans to this day.

The relationship involving Elizabeth and her handpicked suitor is likely to sustain. The town’s mayoral contest will most likely play a big role in the forthcoming season, with Lee Coulter (Kavan Smith), Fiona (Kayla Wallace), and possibly Mike Hickam (Ben Rosenbaum) vying for the position alongside Bill Avery (Jack Wagner).

Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) is spearheading the effort to resurrect the town’s newspaper, The Valley Voice, so expect some shenanigans from her and her new role as editor-in-chief.

With the arrival of Amanda Wong, who will play Mei Suo in season 9, Nathan may find a new love interest.

With Faith now partnerless due to a break-up with Carson, the program may opt to attempt matching this twosome together, as clearly indicated in the Season 8 finale. If Carson does come, Faith may find herself in an emotional bind, resulting in yet another love triangle – after all, he had intended to commit to her.

As the program continues to follow its numerous recurrent characters and their wranglings, expect to see more of Lee and Rosemary’s romance as she attempts to relaunch the local newspaper, as well as more of Jesse and Clara’s money troubles. Hickam and Fiona look to be growing closer as well. Expect complexities and cross-cast relationships.

According to Natasha Burnett’s Twitter, she will also reprise her roles as Minnie and Joseph Canfield with Viv Leacock.

Dr. Carson Shepherd departed town at the end of Season 8, as all Hearties know, but happily, Paul Greene himself has stated that Shepherd’s narrative hasn’t ended and that he’ll be back for Season 9.

Fans may expect to see more of McNally in Season 9.

The most intriguing casting rumor revolves around Abigail Stanton, who was written off the show in Season 6 after her co-star, Lori Loughlin, went to prison for her role in a college financial scandal. Fans have been clamoring for Loughlin’s return to the show since she completed her term and the program’s powers that be appear to agree. “Some fans have speculated on what would happen to Abigail’s storyline and expressed their belief that Hope Valley should be a model of forgiveness and grace. As Lori’s friend, I wholeheartedly concur “Brian Bird, the show’s creator, said From the Desk in 2019.
