The newest program from ABC, “The Genetic Detective,” explores genetic genealogy and how it might be applied to change how a crime is solved. CeCe Moore uses the DNA from the crime scene and her investigative skills to follow a violent criminal’s family tree. Moore’s guiding principle is that DNA doesn’t lie; she employs this strategy to identify killers and bring them to justice.
Before this, Moore appeared on PBS “Finding Your Roots.” She remarked how the two cases’ motivations are similar. Moore stated, “The goal is still the same,” in a People Magazine interview. Families are the focus. The goal is to provide clarification, some resolution, and, hopefully, justice.

Famous Cases Of CeCe Moore
Moore has worked on several prominent identification cases, not all of which were connected to criminal activity. Less than a month after the Golden State Killer was identified, she had her first success with Parabon. In Seattle, she solved a double homicide that had been unsolved since 1987. Moore gained entry on Friday and received information by Monday. In June 2019, William Earl Talbott II was found guilty after being detained in 2018. He was given two life terms.
Moore solved a cold case involving a serial killer in Portland, Oregon, in February 2019. The 1979 killing of 20-year-old Anna Marie Hlavka was solved, and the police went to Texas to learn more about Jerry Walter McFadden. The State of Texas had executed in 1999 for a different murder.
The Santa Fe police most recently used Parabon and CeCe’s assistance to capture Joseph Matthew Gregory Jones in May 2020 for the July 2018 shooting of Robert J. Romero. Police were able to reduce their list of suspects with the aid of CeCe’s team. CeCe has received much praise for her tactics from the public and the world of law enforcement.
She told People that she is not doing it for fame. Nobody requires anything more purposeful and fulfilling than what I already do. She wants to show that crimes are never left unpunished by demonstrating that CeCe’s techniques can also be used to resolve cold cases. My biggest hope is that maybe it will deter some people from committing crimes in the first place, she said.
