Los Espookys is a Spanish comedy series with a brilliant plotline and amazing characters. It was created by Fred Armisen, Ana Fabrega, and Julio Torres. The comical performances and quirky dialogues made this series one of the fan-favorite shows of 2019.

Plot Summary Of Los Espookys
This story is about a group of horror-loving friends, Renaldo, Andres, Ursula, and Tati. They turn their love for horror into a business. Renaldo was the main character of the series. Andres was the adopted son of the owner of a chocolate factory. Ursula was an assistant dentist. Ursula’s sister was Tati.
Renaldo starts a business with best friends Úrsula and Andrés to attract tourists to their location. So he built a sea monster which ended up attracting many tourists. He also hosted a haunted birthday party. When his uncle Tico finds out about the party, he urges his nephew to pursue his love of horror full-time.
The party also attracts the attention of a local priest who hires them to stage an exorcism to earn money. They end up becoming a horror group named “Los Espookys.” They start staging horror skits to increase the tourist visits to their town.
Renaldo was the makeup expert, Úrsula was the prosthesis expert and practical effects wizard, Andres was the idea man, and Tati was the group’s test dummy.
The rest of the series comically shows how the cast keeps up with their business while dealing with personal issues.
Where Was Los Espookys Filmed?
The entire series was filmed in Santiago. However, the cast did not reveal details about the location of where the series was filmed as well as where series is set. The location of this series is not revealed anywhere in the entire season.
Fred Armisen explained this in an interview, “It happened little by little. The original idea was that it would take place in Mexico City. As the show started to develop, we were going to shoot in Chile. Then we realized that there are Chilean accents, accents from Venezuela, El Salvador, Panama, Mexico, and many different places. So it was too much to try to keep track of. Keeping it just a little vaguer opened up the ability to tell the stories and have the characters be themselves, instead of trying to do an accent from one place.”
Julio Torres also explained this, “Setting it in a completely fictionalized place allowed us to expand on that. The minute you decide that it takes place in a real place, you have to adhere to the rules of that place in a way that wasn’t as exciting to us as just making up a country.”
For now, we only know that the series was filmed in various places in Santiago, the capital of Chile. And season 2 of the series will also be filmed in Santiago.
Will There Be A Season 2?
Like in the first season, the second round will be just six episodes. The release date has not been announced yet. However, it is revealed that Season 2 starts the original cast with a few special guests. It is expected to be released at the end of 2022.
