Willow Storyline

Considering that this is a brand-new show, the makers are silent regarding anything related to the plot. But it has been confirmed that the show will be a follow-up to the 1988 high fantasy adventure film. Meanwhile, Warwick Davis will return to play the lead role which means that there will be a lot of things we would get to witness in the new series.

The show will be set 30 years after the events of the film and Howard hinted on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the show will continue after everything that happened in the movie. Towards the end of the film, Willow acquired a magic book that will help him to become a sorcerer after managing to save the baby from the Queen and the evil forces. There is a possibility that the fans would get to witness Willow as a sorcerer in the upcoming show and he will surely use the powers to do some good for others.

The main storyline will start when Sorsha’s daughter and princess Kit would gather a group of friends to search for Willow. They would seek his help since Kit’s twin brother, also a prince has been abducted. After Willow agrees to help, the group would embark beyond the edge of the world.

It must be noted that the film was released a long time ago and collected around $137 million at the box office on a budget of $35 million. Although it did not collect anything according to expectations, it managed to become a big hit from the international box office collections and home video sales. But the movie also received mixed reviews where the direction and plot were criticized by a few. The movie may not have done so well at the time but there is a possibility that the reception will increase in the brand-new show which as mentioned earlier, will be a sequel.

The makers have taken a smart step by deciding to make a show for Disney+ instead of opting for a movie. This is because some sequels don’t work well if they are made after a long time and the perfect example is The Matrix Resurrections, which was released last year, 18 years after the third film and it eventually bombed at the box office. All we need to do now is wait for the release of the show.
