Cold Feet is a British version of Friends that hasn’t yet fully admitted it needs to stop. The comedy-drama series follows three couples as they navigate lies, love, loss, and friendship. It features a cycle of messy break-ups and exhaustive make-ups, like its American counterpart, squeezing out every bit of tender and non-tender emotion it can find in each couple. Cold Feet was created by Mike Bullen after the unexpected success of a one-off featuring only one of the three couples, which was released as part of ITV’s Comedy Premiere Special in 1997. The one-off was released by Granada Television on March 30, 1997, and later became the pilot of a broader series.
Cold Feet is executive-produced by Andy Harries, Christine Langan, and Mike Bullen with Spencer Campbell and Emma Benson serving as producers. The show’s first 5 seasons (32 episodes) were produced by Granada Television from November 15, 1998, to March 16, 2003. Thirteen years later, Cold Feet was revived by Big Talk Productions on September 5, 2016, featuring all (James Nesbitt, John Thomson, Fay Ripley, Robert Bathurst, and Hermione Norris) but one (Helen Baxendale) of the original main cast. The last episode released was the finale of season 9, which aired on ITV on February 17, 2020.
Cold Feet Season 10 release Date
Fans who are eager for a tenth season will have to hold on to their patients for a while. On February 17, 2020, the producers of Cold Feet announced that the show was going on an indefinite hiatus. This means Cold Feet is neither canceled nor renewed, but sits on the shelf, awaiting what I hope is its last verdict. Cold Feet has been dragged along for about 25 years now, I think it will be more likely to retain whatever value it has if it emulates ‘Friends’.
Cold Feet cast is getting older and everyone needs to admit that and move on. It worked out excellently for the cast of Friends, and Friends itself is still in the public eye now. The same might be in store for Cold Feet if they make the hard choice now. If the hard choice is ignored, and Cold Feet does come back for a tenth season, here is everything you can expect from it.
Cold Feet Season 10 Plot
Cold Feet begins by introducing three couples living in Manchester, whose lives are intertwined in one way or another. We have Rachel Bradley and Adam Williams, Pete and Jenny Gifford, and David and Karen Marsden. In the very first episode, we find out Rachel is actually married to another man whilst dating Adam. Adam and Rachel’s relationship begins to crumble when Adam finds out about Rachel’s marriage, and Rachel sleeps with her husband and gets pregnant.
David and Karen struggle with raising their first baby, and hire a nanny named Ramona, who David tries to sleep with to get back at Jenny for attempting to cheat on him with a client at her publishing job. Pete and Jenny’s relationship takes a hit when Jenny reveals she once had a crush on Adam, Pete sleeps with a co-worker, and Jenny throws Pete out of the house.
Cold Feet is an unstable climb from there, going up then down then up again as the couples cheat on each other, go through a sobering event, and get back together when things are supposedly put in perspective. Two of the sobering events that occur are Adam’s testicular cancer diagnosis, and Rachel’s death in a car crash. Adam remarries after Rachel’s death, although that marriage ends quickly as well; David and Karen split and so do Pete and Jenny.
Cold Feet becomes a whole mess as these adults get in and out of relationships and get back, and the effect on their kids is introduced in season 6. If season 10 does happen, the plot won’t be much different from what we have seen before.
