Gleipnir Season 2- what’s up with it?
First things first, Gleipnir is a very dark exhibition about some very dark characters. Let’s talk about the manga first before diving into the story. Sun Takeda is the manga’s creator and author. The launch of Gleipnir happened in October 2015. It was swiftly adapted into an anime series with the same name that was shown from April to June in the dreadful year 2020.
It’s probably true that Gleipnir is no longer a series for everyone. It combines several different things and may be a worrisome watch. The characters emerge as psychopaths, if not outright freaks. Its name and conception are both peculiar. Because “Gleipnir” is so full of bizarre elements and body horror a la David Cronenberg, it’s the type of anime that you can’t talk about with nearly anybody.
But despite all of that stench, as Anime News Network notes in its assessment, something is alluring about it. The plot and the characters have the depth that you won’t find in a lot of family-friendly anime. So, will there be a Gleipnir season 2? Here’s what you need to know!
Gleipnir Season 2 Release Date
There is currently no official launch date provided by any Gleipnir sources. But if we had to guess, we’d say that Gleipnir Season 2 will debut in the middle of 2022.
We say this because there isn’t enough source material for Gleipnir to make a whole anime series. A one-new period gives the labor and the ample creator time to produce the copious supply that we, the followers, yearn for.
There are various questions raised by Pine Jam’s silence on the subject. Delays for a wide range of performances were caused by the frantic pace of this past year in the aftermath of a pandemic. However, the complete lack of any updates raises the chance that Season 2 will never air.
There is yet some hope, though. The anime Gleipnir is not the only one that gets stuck in limbo between seasons, and it would not be the first to get a second season after a protracted hiatus- as is frequently the case with anime projects.
Gleipnir Season 2 Characters
- Shuichi Kagaya (加賀谷 修一, Kagaya Shuichi) voiced by Natsuki Hanae, Natsumi Fujiwara; Ry McKeand- One of the high school kids has the power to change into a dog-like mascot outfit, complete with a big revolver hanging from his belt and a zipper up his spine that allows any female human to enter his empty body and gain enhanced physical and mental capabilities. When Shuichi transforms, he acquires the best possible human physical fitness, strength, and endurance. When combined with a mate within him, this ability becomes superhuman. In his human form, he still possesses some of his talents, such as an even keener sense of smell than canines. His human features are typical, but for a large scar left around his neck during a struggle with Elena.
- Claire Aoki (青木 紅愛, Aoki Kurea) voiced by Nao Tōyama; Brittney Karbowski- She experienced sadness and made an attempt at suicide after seeing their sister, Elena, turn into a monster and kill their parents. However, no one believed her. Shuichi becomes fixated on locating Elena and learning the truth about how monsters are made after saving Claire. She was violent toward Shuichi at first, using him like a tool and nothing more, but as time went on, she came to care about him to the point that she vowed to commit suicide if Shuichi died before her so they could be together. Claire hides a willingness to murder anybody without hesitation or regret behind her happy and sometimes perverse attitude. She also isolates herself from her emotions to a degree that Shuichi finds unsettling.
- Elena Aoki (青木 江麗奈, Aoki Erena) is voiced by Kana Hanazawa; Morgan Laure- The elder sister of Claire. She killed her parents after learning how to become a ghost, ostensibly because they had reared her and Claire with severe restrictions despite being bad people themselves. She cares deeply about Claire, who could be the one person she won’t hurt. Shuichi claims that she has committed an incredible amount of killings while still being emotionally unstable and crazy before turning into a monster. Shuichi’s ex-girlfriend Elena is revealed to have been the one who made him into a beast so she could enter him and genuinely “become one” with him. Elena is horrified by the notion that someone else may be within Shuichi.
- Alien (宇宙人, Uchūjin) voiced by Takahiro Sakurai; Kyle Igneczi- a member of a highly developed alien species, capable of fulfilling practically any request in exchange for discovering a golden coin holding one of his kind. He has even pledged to give anyone who finds 100 coins enough power to accomplish practically whatever they want, including destroying the whole world if they so want, seemingly without any thought to how such power may be abused.
- Nana Mifune (三船 奈々, Mifune Nana) is voiced by Miku Itō; Xanthe Huynh- a student from a high school. She is consistently upbeat, to the point where Shuichi once felt better about his miserable existence simply by regularly conversing with her. She was the only one to realize how miserable Shuichi was while everyone else thought he looked more relaxed than before, leading some to speculate that she had a crush on him.
- Abukawa (アブカワ) voiced by Yoshiaki Hasegawa; Nicholas Andrew Louie- a student from a high school. Abukawa passes away near the river after betraying Shuichi and joining Madoka’s group.
- Hikawa (氷川) voiced by Shizuka Ishigami; Dawn M. Bennett- Selfish student and one of the Gatherers. She uses a coin that the Alien gave her to get faster so she could be better at sports, but she doesn’t like her powers now that her arms and legs have turned into monster limbs. Shuichi and Claire murder her.
- Tadanori Sanbe (三部 忠則, Sanbe Tadanori) voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto; Kamran Nikhad- The first monster and a college student who support Claire and Shuichi. He requested the alien to make him stronger than everyone else after discovering a coin. He is a martial artist who developed his technique to make the most of the power in his monster body. However, after realizing that humans were no longer a challenge, he has now resolved to test his skills against as many monsters as he can. He determined Shuichi was a “true man” after losing a battle to Claire and Shuichi’s collaboration, even if he no longer cares about the money because strength was his primary goal. He vowed to help them discover more coins.
- Chihiro Yoshioka (吉岡 ちひろ, Yoshioka Chihiro) is voiced by Kana Ichinose; Michelle Marie- A member of Koyanagi’s Gatherer gang and a little girl. a person who is both an animal lover and an animal expert. She can hear how an animal is feeling despite being human because of the fox ears that have sprouted on her head. She typically wears a motorbike crash helmet over her head because she likes to hide her ears.
- Ikeuchi (池内) is voiced by Shōya Chiba; Daman Mills- is a young guy who belongs to the Gatherer tribe of Koyanagi. He is a well-known coward who is readily misled by others, especially those he fears. He falls into a state of terror despite his love for Chihiro. He can use his head as a surveillance camera to track and capture Chihiro thanks to his monster talent. He can electronically or manually post any recordings he produces online. Later, he deserts the gang and passes away in the wilderness.
- Subaru (スバル) voiced by Yō Taichi; Suzie Yeung- a close buddy of Elena and a highly strong Gatherer. With Elena being the only person he can obey, he hates being told what to do and relishes killing anyone who tries. Instead of changing into a monster, Subaru calls his Parents and commands two enormous monsters, a male on the left and a female on the right. They struggle for him while he is kept protected between the palms of the Parents’ hands, which serve as their feet. They are incredibly strong.
Gleipnir Season 2 Plot
Shuichi Kagaya, a high school student, gains the capacity to change into a huge monster dog. It has a large smile on the front and a zipper on the back, making it look like a mascot outfit. He meets Claire Aoki, a typical student in the same class, whose sister, Elena, murdered their parents.
