Star Trek: Lower Decks is an American Animated TV series created by Mike McMahan and it premiered on August 6, 2020. This is the first comedic series in the Star Trek series. The second season received the same attention and appreciation as the first. The second season of the series allowed the audience to know more about the characters who live and work in the bowels of the U.S.S. Cerritos.

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 2 Ending Explained
The finale shows the crew assisting a mission with Leuperians and Captain Freeman meeting her old friend Sonia Gomez.
Captain Freeman finds out that she will not be able to transfer her crew to her new crew if she gets promoted. Mariner finds out about this and tells this to the rest of the crew which makes the crew resent Freeman.
Meanwhile, Rutherford’s field of vision gets blocked due to the alerts caused by his cybernetic implants. Tendi feels that Doctor T’Ana thinks she is not good enough and is planning to transfer her. This makes Both Ruthford and Tendi depressed.
The Leuperian sun’s flare ends up causing Gomez’s ship to lose its power which makes the ship gets sucked into the gravitational pull.
The Cerritos realize that their deflector shields won’t be enough to protect them from the blow caused by the flare. Rutherford suggested removing the outer hull and supporting the Archimedes instead.
The crew takes his suggestion and starts working together and enters the asteroid belt formed by the debris. The officers begin destroying debris while the crew holds the Archimedes in a stable orbit before it strikes the Leuperians. Meanwhile, Tendi finds out that T” Ana is sending her to the science department. Tendi accepted the transfer because she also felt that the science department suited her better. Freeman also declines the offer of promotion.
As a sudden twist, Freeman gets accused of planting a bomb that destroyed the Pakled planet and gets arrested by Starfleet Security. The series ends with a cliffhanger of Freeman getting arrested and the crew being devastated by it.

It is also revealed that there will be a new alien character introduced in season 3.
The character’s name is revealed to be K’ranch. McMahan said he got the inspiration for that character from Tosk, who is from the series Deep Space Nine. He explained, “The Lower Decks artists who designed K’ranch wanted to make a cool, badass-looking alien that also fits into the funny look of Lower Decks, that also kind of looks like it fits into Star Trek, but is also using animation”.
