It’s hard to hold on to those small bubbles of excitement as a lot of exciting events are going to occur in the show. But, unfortunately, The Trunk has yet to be released by Netflix as of this writing.

Since filming has yet to begin, we anticipate that Trunk will be broadcast on Netflix in the second half of 2024. Though the year we predicted can be speculation, Netflix is keeping us in the dark.

The Trunk explores the lives of Noh In Ji, the head of NM, a fixed-term marriage service agency that matches its clients with their ideal spouses, and music producer Han Jung Won. Both of them aren’t in favor of marriage. Despite the fact that her job revolves around it, Noh In Ji chooses to remain unmarried. In-Ji (Seo Hyun-Jin) is a contract marriage provider.

The organization matches consumers with a spouse for a one-year contract marriage. In-Ji has completed her fourth contract marriage. For her fifth contract marriage, she meets Jung-Won (Gong Yoo). Jung-Won makes songs as a producer. Because of his past pain, his life is filled with fear and loneliness. He still pines for his ex-wife, Seo-Yeon, who filed for the spouse-provider company NM on his behalf. Jung-Won meets In-Ji from NM and marries her for the second time. They come to know and like each other as time goes on. A curious trunk is discovered in a lake one day. This sends them into a tailspin of secrets.

Though, as of its briefing, it looks like the same old marriage story, The Trunk revolves around a mystery series about the weird happenings that occur after a mysterious trunk is discovered in a lake. Gong will play Jeong-won, a reclusive music producer who marries In-ji (Seo) under contract. Meanwhile, In-ji works for a matching business set up by Jeong-won’s ex-wife, Seo-yeon, to help him find a “second wife.”

Other than this petty plot information, there is no more information that Netflix prefers to disclose to the audience. It feels like they want the audience to be in a dilemma about how they are going to frame the plot more intensely. As far as news goes, Netflix has started working on the film. It’s also a thing for them how they would choose the location and how things would be for them as per plan or in an unexpected way they will surprise us. Let’s see.
