Anna Winger, creator of The Unorthodox, and streaming service Netflix are teaming up to produce a series called Transatlantic based on Julie Orringer’s bestselling novel The Flight Portfolio. This TV show will focus on the adventures and catastrophes in and around Marseilles in 1940.
A new series is the first joint venture between Winger and Netflix, and the two companies have the green light to create more international dramas and series for the streaming service. That Netflix would wish to keep working with the creators of the Unorthodox series is understandable, given the show’s obvious popularity. This is all the data we have on the forthcoming Transatlantic series.
Transatlantic Release Date
Filming for the series began in Marseille in March, but there has yet to be a word on a premiere date as of this writing. Whether or not the show has moved on to production from the development stage is still being determined by us.
The series’ premiere date is 2023. However, the publication does not specify which month. The series is filmed in English, French, and German, which adds time to the production process. We expect the premiere to take place somewhere around the middle of 2023.
Transatlantic Plot
The next concert is inspired by real-life heroes from the Emergency Rescue Team who risked their lives to save many. It follows a man named Varian Fry as he travels to Marseilles, France, with a big sum of money, and is based on the novel by Julie Orringer of the same name. He also kept a list of other artists whose works he wanted to help protect.
However, it turned out to be more difficult than he had imagined as he pressed on and spent an entire year working on the documents that would get the artists and authors to depart. He also devised a plan for the refugees to get away as quickly as possible, knowing their lives could be in danger at any second.
Transatlantic Cast
The March 2022 launch date is set, and the cast includes Gillian Jacobs (Minx), Cory Michael (Anne with an E), Delilah Piasko, Corey Stoll, Gregory Montel, Ralph Amoussou, and Amit Rahav. Jacobs, who has been on shows including Community, will play Mary Jayne, an American heiress. Stoll will play American Consul Patterson, and who will play Piasko (Boys) has yet to be announced.
Gotham’s Michael will portray Oscar. Amoussou (famous for her role in Marianne on Netflix) and Montel (famous for his role in Call My Agent on Netflix) are waiting to be cast in specific parts. The exact nature of Rahav’s nontraditional acting role has yet to be disclosed, but that will change soon enough.
